"Will everyone please report to the meeting room immediately for a chat." An announcement calls out as I shove some frozen meals into the freezer.
I release a tense sigh and we all leave for the D-Lab. We start our descent to my doom, walking down into the basement, into the D-Lab, and into the conference room that held a hell of a lot of displeased adults.
"Uh, hi? Is this about the grocery store run?" I ask sheepishly, twiddling my thumbs behind my back.
"No actually but I'm still angry about that. It's more so about some pressing news we have. We've located where the Cosmo Stones are. The Green Cosmo Stone in Los Angeles, California. The Red Cosmo Stone in Phoenix, Arizona. The White Cosmo Stone in Chicago, Baltimore, Maryland. The Purple Cosmo Stone in Atlanta, Georgia. The Blue Cosmo Stone in Miami, Florida. And the Yellow Cosmo Stone in New York City."
"That's great!" Ocean exclaims, throwing her fists in the air in victory.
I thought for a bit before saying, "No, no, it's not great."
"What do you mean?"
"There are 7 stones. She only listed off 6, so where's the last one? Where's the Black Cosmo Stone?"
"That's the problem. Either the Space Pirates are hiding it and aren't keeping it in their data files, or they don't have it and it's out there somewhere. Either way. Your next mission will be to get the Yellow Cosmo Stone in New York City, and along with that, see if you can get any info on the Black Cosmo Stone's location. Your next mission will happen in about 2 weeks time."
We all nodded and left, caring on with our day. However, I couldn't shake the strange feeling that I knew where the Black Cosmo Stone was. I walk into my room before hearing something.
"It's time for your training." The voice in my head states.
I groan slightly, "It's literally 1 in the morning, can I get at least a nap in before then?"
"I take it you don't want to do this then."
"Alright fine. Where do you want me to do this?"
"Your backyard is fine."
I walk down the stairs to the door to my backyard, trying to be stealth. I slip out the door and wander a little farther into the yard, stopping at a certain point for instructions.
"I want you to completely lose yourself in a negative emotion, like anger or sadness."
"Wait, aren't I supposed to be chill and zen and shit like in Avatar: The Last Airbender?" I ask, perplexed.
"I do not know what that is but no regardless. My power is drawn from the darkness in the world and to use my power you need to give me some power dark. In simpler terms, you need to harness your negative emotions for my powers to be of full use to you." It explains in a slightly mocking way.
"Alright," For a few minutes of silence I try to grasp on to a negative emotion and let it overwhelm me, but something in me always stops me from being completely overwhelmed. "Ugh, it's not working."
"Come on, think of the feeling you had right when you discovered your parents were dead. The feeling of rage and sadness. And revenge. Harness that." It feels like it's whispering into my ear. And I feel myself giving in to those emotions as I'm consumed by this overwhelming hatred for my life as it is now. And suddenly I see my parents' faces, smiling, and then crying as they fall into a pit. Never to be seen again.
"Good, that's in now. Manifest that energy into a ball and throw it at something." It whispers again.
I hold out my hand with my palm showing, and manifest a dark energy ball. I quickly throw it at the nearest tree, leaving a large singe mark on it and a slight dent.
"You're coming along quite nicely."
