"What were you thinking?!" That's the beginning of the conversation we got when we returned. God it was a mouthful.
"Well what were we supposed to do! Let him catch us! That wouldn't exactly be great for our cause either!" I hear Rex reply to his birth father. Honestly, I'm too tired to completely listen to their conversation but I'm trying-ish. From what I got the Ancients don't like that we blew our cover but everyone else who was somewhat awake -or maybe just crabby- was arguing that there was no other way to keep everyone safe from Gabbro while also keeping our cover. I look over at Max and Zoe who seem equally as perturbed as Rex.
Thankfully, Seth interjects, " As much as I believe there were other ways to better handle that situation, " He waits for the groans to die down, "I believe it was a successful mission overall, we have the necessities for the next mission and we've probably left the Space Pirates pretty stumped after that. They won't be expecting the next attack." With that the commotion seems to die down as Dr. Ancient concludes the meeting, excusing everyone but me.
"Dark." Ms. Ancient calls.
"Before you say it, I know it wasn't the best action but it's the only one that I could think of before something bad happened."
"Actually I wanted to talk to you about the battle, you did well until the end. Dark, you don't need to be scared that Majung won't come back. Once they return to their card, they start healing."
"I guess it was just a shock, we haven't really had a dinosaur faint during battle. It feels different when you've already lost someone." I reply before handing her the data slug and leaving to go to sleep.
Crawling into my bed, I noticed Majung heading to sleep at the foot of the bed. I smile weakly before slipping under the covers and into a deep sleep. I swear when I open my eyes, I'm not in reality anymore. There's a blank, empty darkness that surrounds me, it doesn't feel foreboding but it also doesn't feel welcoming.
"Since you're wondering, you're inside your mind. And yes it's empty, but don't feel bad, most minds look like this with me in them." The voice says smugly.
"Why am I here?" I respond ignoring it's taunts.
"Simply because I think I need to go over the best way that we can both survive if you're going to continue infiltrating the Space Pirates' bases. You see, I was hoping that the encounter with Gabbro would turn out differently-"
"As everyone else seems to wish." I retort before feeling something grab my face as if to force me to pay attention.
"I would appreciate some respect." It warnes in a dangerous voice, " Anyway, I think it would be best, if I took over during those encounters."
"No way! Why don't you just teach me to use your powers? There's absolutely no way in hell that I'm letting you have control over me again!" I scream indignantly.
It growls, "Fine! But I warn you, if you don't show enough progress I will not hesitate to take control of this body."
"Whatever, now can you at least tell me a little about yourself." I inquire. There's almost complete silence for a few minutes, as a strangely familiar orb, black in color with what looks to be a nebula hidden in it, rolls towards me. Something about the orb feels familiar but I can't place it as I reach down to grab the orb. I'm awoken by the feeling of claws on my back as my cat, Sable, paws at me.
I groan and roll over, Sable moving away from my tumbling body. What a weird dream/nightmare/ sleepy time thingy.
