I jumped at the DJ and threw him over the booth before me and Loki pushed the curtain back to reveal a hatch. Quickly, Loki opened it and motioned for me to jump in first.
"Ladies first?"
I rolled my eyes, "How considerate." I jumped down and did a 10 point landing, that was before Loki jumped down and fell on top of me. Quickly picking himself up and shuffling so that his face was hidden.
"Sorry." He scratched the back of his neck.
I rose, dusting myself off, "Um no problem." I hadn't been aware of how red my face was.
We moved through the hallway, taking out any Hydra agents that we saw. We'd been moving throughout the base for about 20 minutes before a giant robot clambered through the hall.
"What is that?" Loki's mouth wrinkled in disgust and he pressed us both against a wall.
"I don't know but do you think it saw us?" Just as I asked the question, it's red eyes turned towards us and it threw it's arm like appendage out to smash us. With an "EEEK" we both dropped to the ground and rolled away. The robot reveal the crater in the wall as it removed it's arm to aim blasters at me. I threw up my shield as it rained down gunfire. In the meantime, Loki jumped onto it's back and dug a knife into its neck. That only seemed to irritate it as it threw Loki off like a mosquito.
"You good?" I called, using my shield to rush forward and knock the giant robot's knees.
"Yeah," Loki grumbled as the robot stumbled over. It focused on Loki and aimed more punches. Loki stumbled while dodging the first blow and was catapulted into the wall. I drew out my sword and leap to disarm(literally) the bot. Unfortunately, that proved to be as useful as stabbing it with a toothpick. I got knocked into the same wall as Loki and that's when I figured that it was all over.
But damn. Just when you need it, that star spangled suit appears and saves you and the God of Mischief from death. Cap used his shield to block the blows and ushered us away and out of the base. We managed to exit the club through the back exit and run through the alleyways to the Avenge-Jet.
"Thanks for the assist. Do you know what that thing was?" I asked as my nose stung from the cold air.
"Possibly some of HYDRA's new tech. I found out about it once I reached the control center."
"You mean to tell us that we were walking through that entire base for 20 minutes and we couldn't find the control center? Figures." Loki looked at me accusingly.
"I seem to remember some very attractive crop top wearing man saying that he quote 'had a great sense of direction'." I mocked Loki.
"I'll get you back for that Dark." He joked.
Steve groaned, "Should've gone with Widow." His voice was almost enduring.
