Cassandra:

I stood before Anton's door while Bernard and Walter waited anxiously in the living room downstairs. Fear plagued my heart. I was worried about the outcome of this encounter. Although my gut told me that he wouldn't attempt to force the mating process on me, I still had my doubts about his wolf.

I knocked on the door only to receive silence in return. I then decided to try the knob and swung the door open slightly only to peek inside. The room bathed in darkness. I had to squint my eyes at Anton's figure who had turned his back to me.

"You're not supposed to be here," he growled lowly.

"You need my help," my voice came out bolder than I felt.

He sighed frustrated and groaned, "I can hear your heart rate! You're scared. It will only bring out my predatory instincts."

I took a deep breath and released it. Now that we were having a normal conversation like normal people, I do not have to worry about him trying to force the mating process on me.

I forced myself to relax a little. "Well, let's talk. We're gonna need it," I told him matter-of-factly.

I stepped inside and shut the door of Alpha Anton's room like it's my regular thing to do. Yup! I just shut myself inside a room with a ticking time bomb aka Anton(and his wolf, Yes!).

"Geesh! There's no O2 in here!" I exclaimed, drew the curtains, and threw the windows open to bring down the tension and let in some morning light.

I walked to his couch and sat down on it. "Anton, we need to talk," I told him and patted the space beside me. But, he wasn't even looking at me. His posture looked abnormally stiff and he looked like he wasn't breathing.

"Wait! Are you allergic to fresh air?" I asked him with mock curiosity, "I'll just shut those windows back again then..." I strode towards the windows again.

He grabbed my arm and released his breath. He looked at me with those forest green eyes that made my heart warm and my gut tingle with pleasure. I could see that beautiful emerald green tinge pulsate across his irises showing his conflict with his wolf.

If he didn't try to rape me, I might've even loved this man. I realized as sadness washed over me silencing all those tingles that ran through my body. This man was responsible for bringing back all those nightmares that I had once worked really hard to bury. My eyes burned with tears. Maybe, I wasn't really ready to do this.

Just as I was about to mind-link Bernard, I felt fingers trace my cheek, "Little Cass?"

I saw him looking at me with regret and sorrow swirling in his eyes. He placed his palm against my cheek. Involuntarily, I leaned into it. It seemed to give me comfort. I couldn't understand how a man who had tormented me could be a source of my comfort.
