Colby didn't want to let the blonde go. The brunette wanted to keep the smaller male here forever, wings wrapped around sams small body; protecting him from anything and everything. But, he knew that wasn't going to happen. So after several minutes of listening to people ordering him to let the blonde go; colby slowly opened up his wings and let one of the men scoop Sam up in his arms. The blonde was drowsy; eyes rolling around under his eyelids.
"Please, let me stay with him," colby pleaded, watching Sam slowly let his eyes flutter open.
"I am grateful for what you've done, but-"
"Please!" Colby interrupted; eyes watering at the sight of Sam weakly resting his head on the mans shoulder. The brunette wanted to walk right over there and rip the blonde from that mans arms; let Sam rest his head on his shoulder. But the king was stubborn, and in the end colby had to watch the men walk away; Sam going with them. And then, colby was alone. Alone with distraught creatures trying desperately to put out the fire burning in what used to be the brunettes home.

The first thing Sam realised when he woke up properly, was that he wasn't with colby. The blonde had groaned, sitting up in his bed. Wait- bed? How did he get here?
"Darling..."
The blonde blinked lazily, eyes looking around his room to see his mother perched on the end of his bed.
"How are you feeling sweetheart?" she asked him gently.
"W-wheres Colby?" Sam asked, rubbing his eyes. Sams mother sighed, sad eyes looking at her son.
"Darling..."
"What did you do to him!" Sam suddenly exclaimed; going to stand up out of bed.
"Nothing, nothing, Sam... Colby's fine, darling. Get back into bed," Sams mother fussed, quickly leaping up to place her hands on her sons shoulders and guide him back into bed.
"Then where is he?" Sam asked again, nervously biting the inside of his cheek.
"Back at the forest," Sams mother answered. The blondes heart sunk. He would've thought maybe colby would have stayed with him; made sure he was okay at least.
"Oh..." Sam muttered.
"He wanted to stay with you, darling," sams mother continued. The blondes eyes instantly lit up; and he bit back a smile. Sams mother watched him closely, taking in the sparkling eyes and red cheeks; just at the mention of this colby.
"Do you love him, darling?" Sams mother asked softly. The blonde froze, looking up at his mother. She was looking at him with soft eyes; a gentle smile on her lips.
"I... I don't know.." Sam whispered. The boys mother smiled, bringing a hand up to rake through Sams blonde curls.
"You do, sweetheart. I can tell."

Colby sighed; looking out at the kingdom from a tree he was sat in. His heart was aching; he could almost feel it cracking and breaking in half. He felt so alone. He wanted, so desperately; to feel the warm pressure of a warm head on his shoulder. He wanted to smell the shampoo that clung to strands of blonde hair and filled colby's nose with the beautiful scent. He felt as though he'd only just gotten the blonde back; and then he was ripped from his arms; literally. The brunette sighed, tilting his head back to rest against the tree. He'd had to find a new tree to sleep in; after his home had been destroyed during the attack. He couldn't get comfortable; everything just felt so wrong. Sighing, colby let his blue eyes glance back out at the kingdom, landing on the palace that he knew Sam was inside of. Probably sleeping, it was quite late at night. He could imagine the small blondes peaceful face; soft lips curled into a little smile and blonde hair ruffled by sleep. The brunette smiled; before looking at the one window he knew was Sams. He narrowed his eyes, sighing. It'd be so easy to just fly over there; so easy. He could do it now, he could fly right over there; knock on the window, hug the blonde close. Would he get caught? Probably. It was a palace, for gods sake. But, as colby sat in some random tree, the smell of smoke clinging to his hair and clothes; he realised he had nothing left to lose. So, the brunette stood up; spread his wings, and took off.

Knock Knock

The blonde groaned, rolling over in bed, shoving his head further into his pillow.
