{Sam's POV}

It was an ordinary day, just like any other. I'd been to school, got piles of homework as per usual and now I was simply walking home, smiling as the sun reached out and warmed my cheeks with its touch. My blonde hair lapping in front of my eyes, bouncing up and down with every step I took. "Pokemon in NYC" was playing softly through my headphones, and my heart warmed at the sound of the soft music. I happily started to hum along as my house came into view. I raised my foot to step onto the porch but -
And that's just it. I don't remember what happened next. Because everything just went black.

{Colby's POV}

"So, everyone knows the plan," Brennen checked, looking at us all we stood there, most with big, evil grins on our faces. Me however, I was frowning. "His dad is loaded, we could raise the ransom to millions and he'd still pay it," he spoke, sinister eyes darting from a few of the gang members, and then falling on me.
"What's up Brock? Scared," he smirked, a few members turning around to look at the big frown plastered on my face.
"Course not," I muttered. Brennen raised his eyebrows but continued talking. I didn't listen.

I hated what we did, but I had no choice. It gave me a roof over my head, it gave me money. Ever since my parents kicked me out, for being gay, I was on the streets, until Brennen found me. He took me on. The first time he took me out on a job, I found it exciting, thrilling. I loved the way the adrenaline raced around my body as we dragged the victim to the car. But then when we got them back to base, that's when it hit me what we had done. Watching the poor man struggling to get out of the restraints and Brennen tortured him continuously until family had payed of the ransom. And that's all we did it for. The ransom, the money. We were all rolling in cash but it felt so wrong, for obvious reasons.  Sometimes I wished we would get caught. It would put an end to it all. I'd rather be behind bars than hurt another person. I'd been apart of about 10 kidnappings so far, and now I was listening to the briefing for my 11th.

"Brock, are you even listening," Brennen sighed, glaring at me with his green eyes. "Course I am boss, sorry," I mumbled, looking at the floor. He shot me another one of his signature death glares and continued speaking.
"The kids name is Sam Golbach, he's 17," brennen explained, my heart dropping at the thought of hurting someone so young.
"He'll be back from school at about 4, we can nab him just before he goes into his house," he continued.
"Now, I want 4 people on his run with me."
"How about you Webber, and defiantly you Curtis," he smirked, watching as evil grins plastered themselves onto the two boys faces.
"Parker, you too. And.... Brock. You'll be my right hand man," Brennen decided, everyone smiling except me. I watched as our leader produced a photo, turning it around so we could all see. "This is Golbach," he explained. It felt like I had just been punched in the stomach. The boy was beautiful, so pure and so innocent. He had stunning blonde hair and ocean blue eyes that made my heart flutter. I couldn't hurt him. But I had no choice.

{time skip}

My heart was pounding in my chest as we crouched behind a large fence outside the victims house as we awaited his arrival. I had tried talking Brennen out of this one, saying it wasn't fair, that he was too young, but a threat to be thrown back out onto the streets soon shut me up. My heart found it's way into my throat when we heard the soft humming of a boy and small footsteps approaching us quickly. Curtis thrust the bat into Brennen's hands as the blonde angel came into view.  I felt sick as Brennen crawled out from our hiding place, carefully creeping up behind the poor boy. He was so precious, I couldn't bear the thought of any harm coming to him. I watched as Brennen raised the bat, wincing when it came in contact with the kids head. His poor body dropped to the floor, my heart breaking for him. Brennen threw him over his shoulder and dashed back to our hiding spot, laying him on the ground and then checking for any witnesses. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to have noticed the attack. Brennen checked for a pulse, and nodded when there was one. I looked at the blood seeping from the back of Sam's head, chest tightening when I saw how hard Brennen must of hit him.
"Alright, we need to get out of here, Brock, carry him to the car," Brennen ordered, standing up and scouting the area for anyone who could see Sam, poor unconscious and bleeding Sam. "Coast is clear, now let's go," he spoke. I sighed as i lifted Sam into my arms bridal style, his little head lolling against my chest as I speed walked to our car. Parker went to open the boot but brennen stopped him, saying there was no time, that Sam would have to go in the back with us. "Just don't wake him up," Brennen warned everyone as we all climbed into the car. I had no choice but to sit with Sam in my lap. I rested his head on my shoulder, and when nobody was looking, took my bandana of and pressed it to the back of his head gently, trying to stem some of the bleeding. He looked so peaceful sleeping, I wish that he could sleep forever, so he wouldn't feel any of the pain and torture that was about to be inflicted upon him. My heart ached as I watched him for the rest of the car ride, guilt swirling in my chest as I held him tighter to me. I had to protect him. I had to.

{Sam's POV}

I was confused. So confused and, ouch, my head was banging. I found the strength to open my eyes, heart dropping as I saw where I was. I was in a small, cold, dark room, and worst of all. I was duck taped to a chair with a gag in my mouth so I couldn't scream. "Ah, good morning sleeping beauty," someone spoke, my eyes filling with tears as my eyes flew to the direction the voice came from. I could barely make out a man standing in the shadows, tears streaming down my face as I noticed that there were more of them. They all stepped into the light, the black masks they were wearing making them look even more terrifying. I looked away from them, heart pounding. I suddenly felt the presence of someone standing in front me, heart picking up speed. "Look up," someone ordered. I didn't want to, so I strained my eyes to the floor, a little sob escaping my lips. Suddenly, a hand collided with my cheek at top speed, causing me to cry out. "I SAID LOOK UP," the voice boomed out. I wearily looked up, being met with piercing green eyes, my heart going so quickly I was worried I was going to burst. I couldn't see the rest of his face because of the mask, but I could tell he was scary. He ripped the gag out of my mouth, grinning while he did so. "P-please d-don't h-hurt m-me," I whimpered, trying to tug at the tape that was holding my wrists and legs to the chair.
"You really don't know how this works do you," the man snickered.
"P-please l-let m-me g-go," I sobbed.
"No can do," the man smirked, getting right in my face.
"Sweetheart."

{Colby's POV}

I couldn't watch. Brennen hurt him, badly. Everyone else joined in, but I stayed in the shadows, listening to the poor boys screams and pleas for someone to help him. My heart breaking at every broken sob that left his lips. The poor kid was still tied to the chair, but when one of the members gave him a kick in the stomach and I heard him give out a terrifyingly broken scream, I stepped forward. "Ok, ok guys, I think that's enough," I interrupted. Everyone turned to me, Brennen stepping forward. "What did you just say!" He boomed.
"I'm on watch tonight, and I don't want his stupid whimpers keeping me awake all night," I lied, hoping that would be convincing enough to get them all to leave. Brennen raised his eyebrows, but motioned everyone to leave. Before he did so, he put his face right up in Sam's face. "See you in the morning, sweetheart,"
He smirked, finally leaving the poor boy and exiting the room. Sam let out another strangled sob as I rushed over to him. I knelt down in front of the chair, sighing when I saw him screw his eyes shut and his whole body tensed up. "Hey, hey it's alright," I tried, laying my hand on his knee, only causing him to cry out more. "No, no i'm not going to hurt you, darling,"
I tried again, his eyes slowly opening. "Listen to me, Sam," i said gently. He looked up at me, my heart fluttering when I stared into his blue eyes.
"I'm going to take this mask of ok? But you have to promise me that no matter what happens, you can't tell anybody what I look like, ok?" I asked. He nodded, wincing when he moved too quickly. I slowly pealed the mask of my face, smiling when his jaw dropped open. "Listen, let me get you out this chair, and I'll clean you up alright?" I told him.
"Y-Yes p-please," he stuttered. I took the pocket knife out my pocket, cutting the tape of his wrists and legs carefully.
"Can you stand darling?" I asked.
"i t-think s-so," he said, letting me help him stand up. His legs shook violently, and thank god i was there to hold him up. I walked with him to one of the four walls, letting him sit down and lean against it. "I'll be right back I promise," I smiled, giving his shoulder a re - assuring squeeze. I stood up and quickly left the room, running to find a rag and wet it with warm water. I found a first aid kit we kept for emergency's. I was pleasantly surprised nobody saw me, but i was too worried about Sam to care. I couldn't believe anybody could hurt someone as precious as him. I won't hurt him. Never.
