{set at suicide bridge}
"It's gone back to no!"
Sam spun around, glancing over at the board. Corey had exclaimed loudly that the planchette had mysteriously moved back to no, and sure enough it had. Elton walked over, placing the planchette back on goodbye and continuing to film. Sam was astonished by how calm he was. The blondes heart was in his mouth and they'd only just finished playing the board. They had to spend the night here next. Sam's eyes travelled over to Colby, who was beaming his signature smile into the camera as he talked to Elton. He couldn't help but smile whilst looking at him. The brunettes laugh was contagious, always had been always will be. Sam casually turned around to take one more glance at the board before walking away, but something caught his eye. The planchette was back on no...
He could have sworn Elton moved it back to goodbye.
"Elton! Dude it's back on no!" Sam shouted, moving towards the board, heart pumping out his chest. He didn't know why he was so frightened, he never really got that scared during these overnight videos, but there was something about this place. Elton came jogging over, with colby and Corey in tow. "What the fuck!" Corey screamed, his eyes widening.
"You didn't move that?" Colby asked Sam, to which he shook his head no.
"I swear on my life I didn't touch it," Sam breathed out shakily.
"Elton we should go, like we really need to leave!" Corey decided, backing away from the board with a look of absolute terror in his brown eyes.
"Corey, we're ok. Let's just pack the board up and it'll be fine," Elton instructed, to which Corey shook his head.
"You are the stupidest man on this planet," Corey muttered, walking over to where we'd put our stuff for the night.
"But ya love me right?" Elton joked, picking up the box for the board and handing it Sam.
Corey groaned, plopping down onto the grass and leaning against the wall behind him.
"Can you two pack the board up? I'm gonna get some equipment out," Elton asked. Sam and colby nodded, and Elton walked away to his bag.
Sam stared down at the board, picking up the planchette with shaky hands and putting it in the box. Colby noticed the unusual shake to the blonde boys hand, furrowing his eyebrows.
"You ok?" Colby asked.
Sam nodded, lifting the board and carefully placing it back inside the box. Colby narrowed his eyes and put the lid back on.
"If you say so."{half an hour later}
"If there is anybody here, you can communicate through this device."
Sam watched with wide eyes as Colby held the spirit box out in front of him. The horrid sound of static was filling his ears and making him cringe, but he listened all the same.
"Go."
It was clear as day, spoken by a low husky voice from the device in Colby's hand. Sam backed up a tiny bit, watching Corey doing the same. Colby's blue eyes were wide and Sam could see his hand shaking. Even Elton looked shocked.
"You want us to go?" Colby asked. Corey backed up even further, so much his back hit the wall behind them. Elton was pointing the camera at Colby, eyebrows raised as he waited for a response.
"Bad things."
"Shut it off!" Corey demanded, his eyes watering.
"No, keep it going," Elton decided.
Sam stood, nausea pooling in his stomach from the pure terror he was feeling in this moment. He'd never been this scared in his entire life, and he was definitely not enjoying it.
"Run... can't."
And the low voice dissolved into static once more. Colby shut the device off suddenly, which made everyone jump as the group were plunged into silence.
"Why'd you shut it off?" Elton asked, taking the device from the brunettes hand.
"Corey and Sam were getting freaked out," colby shrugged.
"No I wasn't!" Sam defended, even though he knew he was.
"You've gone completely pale, Sammy,"
Colby smirked, hand coming up to glide across the others white cheek.
"Look like you've seen a ghost," colby joked, retracting his hand and letting it fall to his side.
"Not yet," Sam responded, to which Colby laughed.
"Come on love birds, I want to do a sweep with the EMF detector," Elton butted in, walking back over to his bag and pulling out the small device. He turned it on, and the light was settled on green, which made a sort of safe feeling erupt inside of Sam. Elton handed the device to Corey, and then grabbed the camera and turned it on.
"Ok, just walk around Corey, if the light goes past orange then -"
"I know how to use an EMF detector, Elton," Corey interrupted. Elton laughed, and so did the brunette and the blonde. Corey began walking, waving the device into different areas and demanding the spirits to make the lights glow red, but nothing seemed to be happening. That was until Corey pointed the detector up at the bridge that was looming above them. The light shot up to red so fast it made all 4 of them jump.
"Oh hell no," Corey groaned, thrusting the EMF into Sam's hands instead.
Sam stared down at the device in his hands, heart pumping violently. It was still flashing from green to orange, but was no longer red.
"If there's anything here, make this light turn red," Sam spoke. There was a huge sense of nervousness in his voice which colby definitely didn't miss. Sam paused for a moment, waiting patiently for the spirit to do as he commanded, and sure enough, the light shot up to red at incredible speed. Sam handed the device back to Elton, not wanting to be anywhere near it. He shuffled closer to Colby, a sudden weight on his shoulders that he wasn't familiar with. Colby glanced at the anxious blonde boy, gently slipping his hand into his, interlocking their fingers. Sam squeezed his best friends hand tightly, heart pumping vigoursly.Sam was stood with Elton and Corey, helping them to set the camera up on a rock. Corey was holding some dowsing rods (I think that's what they're called, correct me if I'm wrong) in his hands. Once the camera was set up, Elton turned it on and grabbed the rods from Corey. Colby was around the corner, setting out the sleeping bags and blankets in an area where the group would sleep later.
"So, how do I use these? Corey?" Elton asked.
"I'll show you," Corey answered, taking the rods from the elder. He held them in his hands, and waited for them to stop moving.
"If there is anything here, make these rods cross over," Corey instructed.
Almost immediately, the rods crossed over. Corey blinked, and then shoved the rods at Elton.
"No dude! It doesn't normally happen that fast!" Corey whined, his eyes watering again.
"M-maybe it was the wind," Sam tried to reason.
"What wind, bro!" Corey retaliated. Corey was right, it was a perfectly still night. Not any wind whatsoever.
"Let me try," Elton said, putting the rods into position.
"I'll get Colby," Sam decided, turning around the corner to find his friend.
"Colby, dude we -"
Sam stopped taking however, when he saw the area that the brunette should be, was completely empty.
"Colby?" Sam asked, his chest tightening.
"Colby this isn't funny," Sam sighed, taking a step forward. He looked out into the dark surroundings, eyes squinting as he tried to locate his best friend.
"Colby!" Sam called, becoming a little bit more worried now.
"What's going on?" Sam heard Elton ask.
"Colby's gone!" Sam yelled, turning on the flashlight he had in his hand and pointing it out into the gloom. Elton and Corey came running round the corner, eyebrows furrowing with confusion when they saw that Sam was indeed telling the truth.
"This isn't a prank, right?" Sam asked, his voice shaking.
"Dude, i have no idea what's going on right now," Corey defended, turning his own flashlight on.
"Colby!" Elton yelled, but there was no response. Sam could feel tears welling his eyes when reality doomed on him. Colby was missing. At suicide bridge. God knows what could have happened. He could have been taken by some crazy person. What if he got possessed and wandered off? "Colby!" Sam yelled, stepping forward towards the darkness.
"Colbs where are you!" Sam tried again, feeling one tear slip from his eye as his chest tightened even more. He had a horrible feeling settling in his gut. He was glad he was outside because he thought he could be sick at any moment. The blonde boy could hear them calling his friends name behind him, but it was fuzzy, faded out.
"COLBY!" Sam screamed.
"COLBY WHERE ARE YOU!"
Sam listened, but there was nothing. He went to go further into the darkness, when hands grasped his shoulders. "Get off me!! Get off me!" COREY! ELTON!" Sam screamed, thrashing around in the persons grip.
"Sam! Sam calm down!"
Sam immedietly stopped struggling, going limp in the persons arms. That voice. That voice was the one that had guided him through high school, and through life in general. His best friend. And sure enough, when he looked up, he was met with those all too familiar bright blue eyes.
"No, don't cry, I hate it when you cry," colby said softly.
Sam turned around and pulled the boy towards him. Colby pulled the sniffling boy into his chest, rocking them back and forth.
"I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry," colby muttered into Sam's hair. Sam was confused, why was he sorry? But he didn't care in this moment. Colby was safe and that was all that mattered. After standing there in each other's warm embrace for what felt like hours, the two pulled apart. Colby led the blonde to the little bed he'd made out of sleeping bags, pillows and blankets, and sat Sam down onto it. He sat down next to his friend, slinging his arm around sams shoulders.
"I'm so sorry bro," colby sighed, his gentle fingers drawing circles on Sam's shoulder.
"Why are you sorry?" Sam sniffed, resting his head on Colby's shoulder.
"I was hiding, I was gonna jump out and scare you but -"
"I don't care, your safe and that's all that matters," Sam intercepted.
Colby smiled softly, hugging his best friend tighter to his chest."Just don't do it again."
