{set at witches forest, after Colby got separated from the group}Sam clung to Colby, tears flowing from his eyes at a rate he couldn't control. The light from the camera, that Sam had dropped in his rush to get to colby; was the only thing illuminating the duo as they clung to each other tightly. They were both shaken; both scared.
"Y-you can't do that.." Sam sniffed; keeping his face pressed firmly into Colbys shoulder as he allowed himself to finally calm down. Colby's heart clenched painfully at Sams broken voice; and he took a moment to allow himself to respond.
"I-I thought you guys were right behind me..." colby explained, finally pulling back from the hug so he could see the blondes face. Sams eyes were red and puffy; and tears tracks were apparent on his cheeks.
"We shouted at you dude; you didn't listen!" Jake exclaimed.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry," colby sighed; and Corey was the next person to devour Colby in a tight hug. Colby held his friend back; tears threatening to escape his eyes but he used all his strength to push them away. After Corey released him for his death grip; Jake patted the brunettes shoulder.
"It doesn't matter; as long as you're safe," Jake said softly. Corey hummed in agreement.
"Can we go sit down?" Colby asked; and Jake nodded, leading the way back to the campsite the four had set up. Sam was silent as they walked back; and when they retuned he slipped into the tent without a word. Colby sat down on one of the chairs they had bought with them, as Jake sat down with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Corey knelt to try and re-light the fire; and Colby chuckled after watching the man try to no avail for almost 5 minutes. The brunette simply grabbed the lighter off Corey and lit the fire himself; it sparking to life almost immediately.
"Show-off," Corey scoffed. Colby smiled; and Jake laughed. The three sat in silence; a comfortable one; as they stared into the flames.
"You really scared Sam.." Corey muttered into the silence. Colby and Jake turned to look at him; eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"Huh?" Colby asked.
"You. When you went on your little solo adventure. You scared the crap out of Sam," Corey repeated.
"It's not Colbys fault he got lost..." Jake defended.
"That's not what I'm saying... just. Sam was scared; colby. And we all know that doesn't happen very often," Corey continued. Colby tried to ignore the guilt rooting itself deep inside his heart; but it was impossible.
"I've never seen him cry before," Jake whispered. Corey agreed with him; and colby sank deeper into his seat. The brunette hated seeing the blonde boy cry. It was something he hated more than anything in the world.
"I'm going to go and check on him.." Colby decided; standing up for his chair. The brunette made his way over to the tent; slowly unzipping the entrance.
"Sam.." he whispered. The blonde didn't answer; so colby went ahead and climbed inside. The blonde was sat in the corner of the tent; phone in his hand; headphones in; hugging his knees to his chest.
"Hey..." colby smiled half heartedly. The blonde stared at Colby; before returning a soft smile and taking his earphones out and placing both them and his phone on the floor beside him.
"Hi," Sam responded.
"You okay?" Colby asked gently, turning around to zip the tent up behind him.
"Yeah.. yeah I'm fine," Sam answered; but Colby could almost hear the lie seeping through his words.
"Please don't lie to me," colby pleaded, moving to sit beside his best friend. Sam turned to look at Colby, and the brunettes heart broke a little more as he stared into the blondes red-rimmed eyes.
"I'm-fuck Sam I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to get lost and I didn't mean to scare you... I'm sorry," colby sighed. Sam shook his head, trying his best to put on a reassuring face.
"You didn't scare me... I'm fine, okay?" Sam smiled; but it was forced. Colby could tell. The blonde bought his hand up to wipe a tear that the brunette didn't even realise had fallen from his eyes.
"Please don't cry, colbs," Sam whispered. Colby sniffed; leaning forward and engulfing the blonde in another hug. Sam allowed it; obviously. He held his friend back just as tight.
"I know I scared you, Sam. I know you.." Colby muttered into Sams shoulder.
Sam let out a shaky breath, and sighed, pulling back from his friend gently. His gaze fell to the floor as he fiddled with his fingers.
"I... we lost you.. and nobody knew if you were okay. I was scared that... you know. Something bad had happened," Sam mumbled. His gaze shot to Colbys face for a few seconds before returning to the floor.
"I can't lose you.. Colby."
And just like that; a tidal wave of tears cascaded down the blondes cheeks, and he was being pulled directly into the chest of his best friend. Colby held him tightly, burying his own face into Sams blonde head of hair as he rubbed a hand up and down his best friends back. Sam cried for some time; and Colby let a few tears to escape from his own eyes; but he forced the rest away. He wanted to be strong, for Sam.
"You won't lose me, Sam," Colby whispered. Sam nodded hesitantly; and Colby pushed the blonde of him gently so he could see his face properly.
"Look at me, Sam.." Colby spoke softly; using his finger to gently tilt the blondes head up to meet his gaze.
"I promise... you will never lose me."That night the group of four attempted to try and sleep in the tent. They gathered inside the tent, after getting the sleeping bags all laid out on the floor.
"Wait, there's only three sleeping bags," Jake observed.
"Wait actually?" Corey asked. Sam glanced around and sighed loudly.
"I think I forgot mine," he groaned. It was cold; and he really just wanted to curl into a sleeping back and forget tonight happened.
"You can share mine," Colby offered. Sam chuckled and turned to his best friend.
"You think we're both gonna be able to fit into that," Sam joked.
"Nah, but I could do it this," colby explained. Sam watched as the brunette unzipped the sleeping bag; so it turned from a sleeping bag to just an ordinary blanket. "See, plenty big enough," colby shrugged. Sam agreed, and laid down next to his friend. Jake and Corey slipped into their separate sleeping bags and whispered 'goodnights' to the other boys before falling silent. Colby laid the blanket over himself; giving Sam some before shutting his eyes. And before the brunette let sleep totally consume him; he heard movement next to him, and Sams shoulder was pressed to his. He smiled slightly, shuffling closer to the blonde; and finally falling into sleep. It's simple, but it's kinda cute 😂🤷♀️
Hope everyone's doing okay! I miss my friends and family so much; but hopefully we'll be able to go and hug them all soon :))!!
Stay safe everyone 🖤
