{In sam's apartment}

{Sam's POV}

Sleep wasn't an option. Not tonight, anyways. So instead I sat in front of the television, phone securely in my hand. I couldn't help but check the screen every 5 seconds, searching for any kind of contact from one specific person. I hated nights like these. Staying up till the early hours of the morning until I heard the clink of his front door closing as he walked into the apartment next door to mine. I didn't mind waiting up to make sure he made it home alright, it was the thoughts that i despised.
"I wonder if he's ok?"
"Has he drunk too much?"
"Maybe he's hurt."
I wasn't much of a party animal, so I wasn't invited along to these wild night clubs. Not that I was complaining, I'm more of a, let's stay home all night and watch movies, type of guy. I snuggled further into my best friends blanket, trying to grasp onto his scent to calm my racing mind. I decided to go onto Instagram in order to distract myself, but that backfired as soon as I clicked on Brennen's story. I was staring down at the man himself, and a load of his friends dancing in a club, one of them being my best friend. The best friend I was currently sat worrying about. Colby. I sighed and turned of my phone, tightening my grip on Colby's blanket and focusing on the TV. I was interrupted however, by my phone ringing loudly. I jumped, quickly composing myself when I read the caller ID. Brennen. I answered the call and held the phone to my ear. "What's up bro?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
"Sam, Sam thank god," Brennen exclaimed, obviously relieved. Why? I had no idea.
"What's up," i asked, panic bubbling inside me as I heard his heavy breathing though the microphone.
"Listen, Sam I'm so sorry. We aren't even drunk, we barely drank anything I swear!" Brennen promised, only causing me to panic further.
"Brennen what's going on?" I questioned, standing up of the sofa as I got more and more anxious.
"It's Colby," brennen whispered.
"We were dancing and then he fell, hit his head on a table and knocked himself out," brennen explained, waiting anxiously for my response. I didn't have time to respond however. I was already putting my shoes on and leaving my apartment, locking it behind me.
"Where is he?" I whimpered, worry taking over my once calm voice.
"They took him to the hospital dude," he answered.
"Which one?"
Brennen told me which hospital as I climbed into my car and started the engine. He proceeded to tell me that Colby was awake when the paramedics took him away, because he had asked Brennen to call Sam. A small part of Sam was slightly flattered by this information but he was too worried to think about that right now. He hung up on Brennen and started driving to the hospital .

{time skip because it's 1am and I am tired}

I finally made it to the hospital, my hands shaking as I locked my car and started walking towards the scary looking building. I walked up to reception, my hands squeezing themselves together in one nervous movement. The lady behind reception looked up and flashed me a bright smile, which I couldn't return. "I-I'm here to see Cole Robert B-brock,"
I told her, unable to hide the hint of nervousness in my voice. The nice lady told me the room number and I set of. I had to go up an elevator to find the right floor and then walked down endless corridors trying to find my best friend. When I finally reached door 114, I took a deep breath and knocked. "Come in," said the deep voice of my best friend. I sighed in relief knowing that he was ok enough to speak, and opened the door. Colby was sitting on the bed, dressed in the same clothes he was wearing when I saw him last, a white patch of material covering what I was supposing was the bang to his forehead.
"Sam!" Colby smiled, looking up at me.
"Y-you're o-ok," I stuttered, relief cascading through my body.
"Course I am," he smiled.
I walked over to him, feeling the tears gathering in my eyes. I don't know why I was getting emotional, maybe because I was happy he was ok, or because I was so sad he got hurt. I didn't even know anymore. "Sammy?" Colby asked, noticing that my eyes were slowly filling with water. He smiled softly and opened his arms, to which I ran into. I climbed on the bed, sitting on his lap so I was straddling him (not sexually 😝) and buried my now wet face into his shoulder. He soothingly rubbed my back as I silently sobbed. "I'm gonna need stitches on my forehead, but that's all," he said, squeezing me tightly as i gripped onto the back of his shirt and breathed in his scent.
"I w-was so scared c-colbs," I breathed out, letting him pull me away from his shoulder so he could look into my eyes.
"You don't need to worry, Sam, because I'm fine," he smiled as he planted a soft kiss onto the tip of my nose causing me to blush.
"It was just a stupid night out."

I wrote this at 1am so ignore any spelling mistakes or anything like that x
