Metropolis.
"Link established."
They were in Metropolis. All of them were. None of them wanted to let the trail go cold, and none of them wanted to abandon Wildfire.
"I've got a dozen guards over in sector three. Wally?" Robin asked.
"I count ten in sector one. Dra?"
"Nine." She told them impatiently, lying flat on her stomach on the roof of an office building across the street from Lexcorp. Emma was done with the "careful," she wanted to get her best friend back.
"Team, go!" Aqualad commanded, the words they'd all been waiting to hear.
Artemis shot a rope arrow towards the roof of the Lexcorp building, and then she and Dragonfire slid on the rope to the rooftop. Having already hacked the security feed, Robin shot his grappling cord at the roof, pulling Aqualad up with him to meet the girls. Miss Martian carried Superboy and Kid Flash, and Rocket took Zatanna.
In the dark of the night, they looked around at the sparkling City of Tomorrow. Luthor knew they were coming, but at least the night gave them some sort of cover.
They took out the first batch of guards that emerged together. Impatiently, Dragonfire took out the second wave on her own, blasting them back with her lightning.
"Dra! The key is stealth!" Robin scolded her
"The mission is Willow!" Dragonfire argued, driving further into the Lexcorp building. The rest of her team had no choice but to follow.
Artemis stood back-to-back with Zatanna, catching two guards with a net arrow.
"Ekat yawa reiht snug!" Zatanna cried. All the guards that were still conscious suddenly found their weapons of defense deposited at the feet of Aqualad, and in th blink of an eye they were all tied up. Courtesy of Kid Flash.
"Is that all of them?" Zatanna asked after Superboy had gotten a chance to take out his anger on the guards. No more guards could be found, so they proceeded, and came to a wide hall with doors up and down the walls.
"Miss Martian, can you sense her?" Robin asked as they looked around at all the doors and exits.
Naturally, Miss Martian put a hand to her head and her eyes glowed green, then she gasped, her eyes returning to their normal color, "Something's wrong."
"What?" Superboy asked, panicking as his girlfriend stumbled.
"All...all I can feel is...burning..." M'gann whispered, horrified.
A loud SLAM sounded in front of them. Behind them, all around them. The doors all slammed shut at once.
"Uh... Rob? You didn't say anything about automatic security doors," Kid Flash said, trying to keep the nerves out of his voice.
"They didn't look like they were!" Robin protested, not whelmed at all at the moment.
"Then why are they closed and locked?!" Artemis asked , tugging on the door they'd just come through.
If that wasn't good enough, the dim lights went out.
"Well that was unexpected," Dragonfire said, lighting up her fist with electricity, just as she'd seen Wildfire do a million times before. The flashes of light weren't very stable, and gave everyone a mild headache.
