Happy Harbor.
~~Willow~~
"Alright, girls, Three more minutes and we need four more points to beat them!" Abby said, giving us her "We're-halfway-there-we-can-do-this!" speech, like she did every game. It was us, the Happy Harbor Hornets, versus the Cincinnati Vipers. They were pretty good, but we were better, and we were going to prove it.
Then she turned to me, "Willow, you sure you got this?" She was still kind of suspicious about my two-week disappearance and sudden recovery, but she didn't care if my being back meant we won.
"I got this," I told her with a nod, stretching my legs and aching to get back on the field.
She smiled at me, "That's what I thought, now get in there and show them what a hornet is made of!" She gave me a shove towards the field, and I followed my soccer teammates.
"Float like a butterfly! Sting like a bee! Hornets, hornets, can't be beat!" I heard M'gann's classic cheer from the sidelines and I waved at her. She waved back, and then I couldn't be distracted any further. The game had started up again.
I suddenly found the ball at my feet, and spotted Eva, one of my teammates, only a couple feet from the goalie. I kicked it to her as hard as I could, and she scored.
"Nice shot, Willow!" Eva cheered, giving me a high five.
My smile just kept growing and growing. We scored one more goal, and now we only needed one more to bring us home.
M'gann's cheer echoed in my ears, and then I heard even more voices cheering a name. My name.
I looked up at the stands, and saw Emma, Wally, Artemis, Dinah, Oliver, and the rest of the team standing on the bleachers, chanting my name over and over, waving their fists in the air. Even Connor was doing it!
"Will-ow! Will-ow! Will-ow!"
I couldn't believe it, they had taken the time out of their day, a Saturday no less, to come and watch my soccer game.
Maybe they really did care about me.
"Willow!" Abby yelled from across the field. The ball was headed for me. I quickly brushed the thoughts of my super-team from my mind and got my head back in the game. I got the ball and headed back down the field to the opponent's goal. Eva wasn't waiting there this time. The Viper's best defense was on her, their mistake. As fast as I could, I ran towards the goal, Vipers trailing behind me.
I heard the cheers in my ears again, it was impossible not to. I was surprised that Dinah wasn't using her canary cry.
The goalie was on me, she blocked the goal from the end I was approaching, leaving the rest of the net wide open. Praying that it would work, I kicked the ball as hard as I could for the opposite corner of the net.
I opened my eyes at the resounding cheer that came from the Happy Harbor section of the bleachers. We had won! Abby and Eva and the other girls on the soccer team trapped me in a hug, and were broken apart by Wally, who sped through the crowd to hug me as well. I blushed when Connor boosted me up onto his shoulders so I could receive the trophy for my team, and saw Emma and Artemis grinning at me with pride.
Dinah and Oliver, my new parents, hugged me after my friends helped me escape the crowds. I hated those so much.
"I'm so proud of you!" Dinah hugged me tightly, not even caring that her mascara was running.
"That was amazing, kiddo!" Oliver surprised me by lifting me up into the air and spinning me around, just like my dad used to do with me...back when I was Scarlett.
