Before Bruce Wayne, parties were simple little get-togethers with your family, friends, and close loved ones to catch up, hang out, and eat good food.

After Bruce Wayne, parties were for appearances.

Not that I wasn't grateful for Bruce adopting me and my little brother, and for paying for our uncle's care and for keeping our old home- a travelling circus- afloat, but the things we did for superhero cover were ridiculous.

Like throwing a party, and inviting all your mortal enemies.

Yeah, not my idea of a good time.

"Come on, they're not all bad. Bab's is nice, and so's Bette."

"Yeah, and they're both real cute too, aren't they, Rick?" I smirked at his attempt to comfort.

"You ready to go?" I asked. We'd escaped time at the cave, getting out from underfoot while Alfred prepared the house for the big party.

"Yeah," Robin closed the book he was reading.

"Where are you guys going?" Willow asked. I waited until Robin had left, since there was no one else in the room, before I brought it up. I'd told her my secret ID, might as well jump in with both feet while I was at it.

"Do you want to come to my fourteenth birthday party?"

She blinks  at me, obviously confused, "Your what?"

"My birthday party." I repeated, "Robin and I both turn fourteen today, and Batman is throwing a party to celebrate. All the kids from school will be there, but I have, like, no friends there at all, so I was wondering if you'd like to come. I won't be totally miserable, and you could come and enjoy yourself."

She put a finger on her chin, apparently thinking it over for a moment, "Shouldn't we ask Batman?" She suggested at last.

"Probably a good idea," I said, embarrassed that I hadn't though of it first.

Robin was red-faced at something Wally had said, and Batman was waiting for me and him by the zeta-tubes.

"Batman?" I asked after Wally had sped off, "Could Willow come to the party?" I pointed my thumb in her direction.

Batman studied Willow a moment, then looked  between the two of us for a moment.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Please!" I begged. He still owed us for skipping out on Thanksgiving.

"She obviously trusts Willow enough," Robin pointed out.

"Do you?" Batman asked. Robin nodded seriously.

Batman sighed, "Fine."

"Yes!" I hugged Willow and Robin at the same time. pulling them through the prepped zeta-tubes and into the Batcave.

"Recognize; Dragonfire, B00. Robin, B01. Wildfire, B08. Batman, 02." The computer announced.

"Ah, I see you have brought a guest," Alfred stepped out of the shadows just like Bruce always did.

"Who's this?" Willow asked, smoothing out her clothes in an attempt to not look freaked out.

"Willow, this is our butler, Alfred. Alfred, this is Willow. She joined the team a few months ago."

"Ah yes, I remember, the one who helped you with your powers," Alfred said mysteriously, smiling gratefully at Willow.

She blushed and looked away, trying to think of something to change the subject, "So what are your names?" She asked Batman and Robin.
