Chapter 06

MINA

I went up to the staircase and think what I should do. I decided to open the door slowly as I take a peek inside. Isang malaking hall ang bumungad sa 'kin. Sa sobrang lawak ay pwede nang maglaro ng basketball sa loob.

I shifted my gaze towards the right side where I saw a double door. May lumapit sa aking maid at sinamahan ako papunta sa pintong 'yon. This maid is weird. She has a blank expression. Karaniwan sa mga maids ay nakangiti sa mga bisita, not like her.

Pagbukas ng pinto ay pumasok ang maid habang naghintay ako sa labas. Ilang saglit pa ay lumabas na ang maid at tumango sa 'kin bago naglakad palayo.

When I entered the room, I was surprised once again. The room is so big, like the half of the hall. May mahahabang couch na nakapabilog sa isang small rectangular table. The ten masked guys sat there, calmly.

The atmosphere changed when the guy with the brown mask looked at me. Ilang sandali pa at nakatingin na silang lahat sa 'kin. I feel intimidated. Their pressence is enough to send chills through anyone's body.

"It took you too long to come here. How's your sleep?" casual na tanong ni Uno.

"I think she got a good sleep. She even dripped saliva on my shoulder," the guy with the brown mask said, angrily.

"Can you stop acting like a wild boar?" the girl with the violet mask said, irritatedly.

"Wild boar, huh? My rank is still higher than yours!"

"And it's just because I don't want a higher position. Too much responsibilities."

"Yeah, you're weak with responsibilities. Can't handle  them."

"I can handle them. I just don't want to."

"Reasons. Whatever."

"Reasons my face!"

"Yeah, you're face looks like it has a lot of reasons."

"And your face looks like you don't have any reasons at all."

"Will you two stop bickering?!" pinutol ni Uno ang pagtatalo ng dalawa nilang kasama. Then he faced me. "Zero left some instructions and reminders. It's all written here."

Binigay niya sa 'kin ang isang pirasong papel. I read what is written in there.

From now on, you shouldn't tell anyone that you know us or you met us. You should also be one call away, even when you have to do something important. You are now considered as a Chaser. No arguing with the missions given to you. You'll be in training for a few weeks starting next week. We already fixed all things that includes your studying. Be prepared.

"Others may not consider this but it is Zero's choice, and no one dares to counter it," sabi ni Uno habang binabasa ko ang note. "I'll explain everything to you since you'll be one of us now."

"Pa'no kung tumanggi ako?" I asked.

"Then you'll face the consequences. Let me tell you that your life isn't the only one on the line."

Nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa sinabi niya. "What do you mean?" tanong ko kahit parang alam ko na ang sagot.

"Your family and friends are also in the line."

"No. Bakit kailangan nilang madamay dito?"

"To corner you. Para wala ka nang choice kung 'di ang pumayag sa deal. Oh, it's not a deal, more than an offer."
