His Saving Grace

I'm sitting on the floor against the wall doing homework while Rosalie fusses at Edward. I look up when Carlisle walks into the hallway. He walks toward Edward and Rosalie.

"I couldn't have just let her die." Edward hisses to Rosalie.

"This isn't just about you. This is about all of us." Rosalie hisses back.

"Maybe we should take this into my office." Carlisle says before leading Rosalie away. He comes to me and helps me with my things. "Are you ok?"

I look at him and shake my head no. His smile fades. He looks over at Bella and Edward talking. I stand up when Edward walks back to us and frowns.

"You didn't leave." Edward asks Carlisle.

"I was helping Grace. I didn't listen in son." He says standing up. I stuff my stuff into my bag and look towards Bella. She waves at me and I wave back.

I stand up and walk towards her. "Hi."

"Gracie?" Edward's voice says.

"Hello."

"I'm sorry about my brother. And if you need anything. Just ask." I say smiling. She nods her head with a small smile.

"How did he push the van away?"

My smile drops. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Your family is full of lies." She hisses. I back up shocked by how fast her emotions changed.

"Well sorry you feel that way." I say before walking away. "I want to go home."

Edward frowns at me. He hands me his car keys. "I'll catch a ride with Rose."

I nod my head then walk out of the hospital and to his Volvo. I drive down the back roads before going home. I come to a stop light in town and turn to the Starbucks drive through.

"Welcome to Starbucks!"

"Can I have a tall iced coffee with a caramel swirl?"

"Is that all?"

"Yes ma'am." She tells me the price and I drive to the window. After I get my coffee I drive to the McDonald's and buy a double cheeseburger with McSause added.

I park the car in the Walmart parking lot and eat my food. My phone Arafat's ringing a few minutes after. "Hello?"

"Where are you?" Edward asks.

"Walmart parking lot. I got something to eat."

"Ok. Don't be out late." We say our goodbyes and hang up. I turn his radio station to my Spotify playlist.

I do my homework in the parking lot while drinking the Starbucks drink. A black Chevy parks in front of me. I look up to find to big burly guys climbing out talking with smiles. The second guy sees me first and points at me.

I start biting my nails then my phone rings again. I sigh then answer it. "Hey Edward."

"Time to come home." Edward says.

"Ok." I say bye the hang up. I call him back. "I'm gonna go into the store and buy something. I won't take long."

"Ok." I hang up then climb out of his Volvo after grabbing my purse and his keys. I place the keys into my purse then walk into the grocery store.

I walk towards the book section and look at the novels. I pick up a Percy Jackson book. Once i pick my book out I walk towards the candy isle and pick out a few bags of chocolate. When I walk towards the music isle I notice the burly guys watching me.

"Do we know you?" One asks walking up to me.

"Don't think so." I say looking at him. He nods his head.

"I'm Jared. That guy over there is Sam." He says. The other guy walks up to me and smiles.

"It's nice to meet you." I say smiling at them then walking towards the CDs. I pick out a Ed Sheeran disc then turn back to the guys.

"You never told us your name." Sam says with a serious look.

"My name is Grace." I say smiling. "Its really nice meeting you two but I have to get home."

"Oh well we hope to see you again." Jared says.

"You will." I check out then walk to Edward's car and climb in. I start the car up and place the Ed Sheeran disc in the radio.

I walk into the house with all my goodies and backpack. Edward walks to me with a sad smile.

"Don't." I say handing him his keys then walking around him and up to my bedroom. I close the door behind me then place all my stuff in their places. I walk into my closet and change out of my school clothes.

I hear a knock at the door. "Grace can we talk. Please?" Carlisle's voice says through the door. I put on a pair of shorts and T-shirt.

"Please Gracie." Edward's voice says. I walk into my bedroom as Edward is standing on the balcony and opening the door. "You have to let us talk Grace. This isn't like you."

Carlisle walks in through the bedroom door with Esme, Rosalie, Jasper, Emmett, and Alice. I sigh then sit down on the bed then crawl to the middle of it. Edward and Emmett sit on either side of me. Rosalie, Jasper, and Alice sit on one side while Carlisle and Esme sit on the other.

I lean my head against Edward's shoulder and place my legs in Emmett's lap. "Talk to us Grace."

I sit there in silence and think of what I want to say. Edward stiffens next to me slightly listening in on what I was thinking.

"I feel like something is gonna happen. Not just because of Bella or anything else just the fact that something in the future is gonna a tear us apart."

"Grace nothing is gonna tear us apart." Alice says.

"You can't rely on your visions Ally. And I don't know why I feel this way. And I'm just nervous about the fact that I'm human and me being in the family for as long as I've been here will end up getting you guys killed."

"Grace the volturi are not gonna bother us. We've had this conversation a thousand times." Edward says.

"Edward is right Grace. The volturi know about you." Carlisle says. My eyes widen. "We went to them when we were filing for the adoption papers."

"Really?" Carlisle nods his head with a smile.

"They know you're apart of our family. And they know that you know the secret." Carlisle adds. "You have nothing to worry about."

"And with Bella I'm gonna try and keep the secret from her as long as I can." Edward says running his fingers through my curls.

Alice freezes when a vision comes through. She looks at Edward when it passes. Edward nods his head. We all chat and talk about our day and what's to come. Alice tells me that it's supposed to be sunny next Monday when Bella and her friends go shopping. I'll be the only one to go to school that day while the rest of the family goes hunting.

I yawn a few times when it passes 10:00pm. Everyone kisses or hugs me goodnight before going to where they go every night.

I snuggle into my warm bed and drift to a peaceful sleep.
