His Saving Grace

I pull up to the Cullen house whipping my clammy hands on my pant legs when I park the car. I climb out then walk up to the door and just walk in.

"Carlisle?" I don't bother with yelling knowing they can hear me even when I whisper. I look up the stairs as Carlisle descends it. "Everything okay with Bella and Edward?"

"Everything is fine. The conversation we need to have wasn't appropriate to have over the phone." I nod my head and cross my arms wishing I had brought Savannah so I could have something to keep my hands busy.

"What's going on?"

"Follow me." I walk behind him up the stairs and into the main living room where Edward and the family are sitting around the couch. Edward smiles as he walks up to take Savannah's carseat. "Guys lets give them some space."

As the family walks out I notice Jake, Leah, and Seth sitting on the back porch. "Why is Jake here?" They all tense up before looking towards Edward and Bella who is sitting on the couch. 

"I guess we can't hide this much longer." Bella says speaking for the first time sense I've arrived. "Rosalie, do you want to help me up?"

Rosalie doesn't hesitate before getting to Bella's side and helping her stand from the couch. My eyes land on the bulging baby bump now resting where Bella's flat stomach used to lay. She quickly pulls down her shirt from where it had rode up when she notices where my eyes landed. "How is that even possible?" 

"From besides the obvious, we're still trying to figure it out." Carlisle says softly from where he stands. 

"What does this have to do with Jake?" I ask trying to calm down my nerves. 

"Jake you can come in." Edward says to the wolf waiting by the glass door. "I think this is the part you need to tell her." 

Jake walks over to me and takes my hand leading me to the couch to sit beside Bella who's watching anxiously. "Grace, what I am about to tell you is going to hurt you and I'm not telling you this to make you choose sides, but Sam is planning to kill the baby." My hands start shaking under Jake's hand. 

"Sam?" I whisper to Jake as if he is the only person in the room. He nods his head causing tears to form in my eyes. "How is he going to kill the baby, Jake?" 

He squeezes my hand gently then answers. "He's planning to kill the baby before he is born." I look away from his eyes trying to stop my unwanted tears. "He'll have to kill Bella in order to kill the baby."

I look over at Bella who is watching our interaction from her side of the couch nervously. Just as she opens her mouth to say something Savannah starts crying which catches Jake's attention. A teary smile graces my face when I notice Jake light up at the sound of his Imprint. He looks to me for permission to get her from her carseat that I instantly grant. 

When Jake rises to get Savannah I stand to go and sit beside Bella as Edwards sits on the other side of me. "I am so so sorry." I start off saying. Bella grabs my hand as we both start tearing up. "I had no idea."

"This is not your fault. Jacob wasn't even meant to find out about the baby. The pack has no reason to be concerned about the baby when after he is born we more than likely won't be staying around." Bella responds with a tearful smile. 

"I don't know what to do." I say not meeting their eyes. "I know Sam is in the wrong, but Sam is Paul's alfa. I can't leave him."

They look at each other communicating silently between each other. "We would never ask you to break your family up because of our problems." Edward says turning my attention from Bella to him. "This is our problem and our problem alone." 

I look down at my hands and sigh just as Seth comes running into the room. "Paul is at the edge of the backyard." He says causing the room to tense up. 

"Who else is with him?" Carlisle asks nervously as Rosalie stands protectively in front of Bella. Jacob tenses beside Emmett with Savannah playing in between them. 

"It's just Paul." Leah says walking into the room calmly. "He's here for Savannah and Grace." 

I stand up and grab my daughter from the wolf and vampire then head out of the back door. Edward grabs my arm stopping me from taking another step. "Are you sure?" 

"It's Paul." I say shoving his hand off of my arm. "He would never hurt us. Don't ever assume anything different." 

He looks at me shocked as if the whole day hasn't happened. I walk out the door and hug Savannah closely to my chest. I look along side of the yard in search for my grey wolf. When I spot him a smile forms on my face even with the chaos happening between the wolves and vampires. 

"Paul." I say in a normal voice. He walks behind the tree and a couple minutes pass and then he returns dressed and in his human form. "Why didn't you tell me?" 

He walks up and takes Savannah from my arms. "Because I have no involvement in the the fight between the supernaturals." 

I look at him shocked. "But they said-."

"They obviously haven't told you the full story. Come home with me and I'll tell you everything." He says laying his forehead against mine with Savannah still in his arms. "Please." 

"Okay." I whisper with no hesitation. I hear him sigh under his breath. "Lets go home."
