When I Met You ( Laceless x Prince )

Laceless stays on his knees as the tears drip softly on his shorts but along with soaking them in the making. "Mom..." he croaked out as he titles his head up at the butsudan. "What should I d-do..."
he sits and waits for something to at least happen, but as he thought that his dad then comes walking inside realest a tired sigh.

Laceless stands up to greet his dads return home.

"Dad, how was the interview?" Laceless try's to play off the fact on why he's in the living room. He hoped his dad wouldn't notice, but he did and asked.
"It was fine, I just didn't get it...but real question is. Why all of a sudden you in the living room?"

Laceless can't help but actually tell his dad the truth, besides he was never a good liar anyway. "..I wanted to talk to mom...about something..." sorrow filled the boys voice as he looks at the ground not meeting his fathers eyes. "Well you know. You can always talk to me." The dad walks over and sits on the ground resting there for a short time

Laceless hesitantly follows but ends up sitting beside his dad.

"...The new monarch King approached me in one of the games today..he said he'd want time to go and try out for the new open spot for their team.." Laceless spills out as he twirlers his fingers playfully.

"Prince asked you to try out for the position. Laceless That's Great!" The dad leans over and grabs his boy, pulling him into a hug. "t-thanks..D-Dad!..." Laceless breathlessly spoke since his father is hugging him to hard.

"But...what's the issue here. I know something still troubles you." The dad leans away and looks at his son who sits, facing the window. "...I don't know if I should go or not...I'm not a pro like the others...I have no skills like theirs..."

"Son, what does that matter. You practice like the rest, you put time and effort into your shots, and you help the team out when you need to. You're just as great, maybe even better. Not all skills are the same." Laceless thought about what his dad said as he sits.

"And besides, You've always wanted to be on an official team. No more random battles, you can have a team that supports you." The dad points at his boys chest and brings him in for a side hug. Laceless latches and sinks into the embrace, while his eyes dart over to the butsudan.

"...you think I can do it?" The sky blue squid asks his father. "I know you can. But even if you don't, I'm sure they'll be something good to come along."
Laceless shyly smiles and hugs more.
"By the way I'll have to leave early tomorrow morning. I have a second interview." Laceless smiles wide and praises his father.

"That's great Dad!"

"Wish us both luck." The father spoke to his son and over to the butsudan.

The next day Prince and his team are outside with the ones who've shown up to the try outs, while they wait some time longer for anyone else who might come along. "This seems promising." Eging smugly smiles out to the crowd of squids.

"Took a while to find these guys but we did it. Some are of rank and others turf." N-pacer spoke looking through her phone on who she asked to come here.
"We'll start with turf, then work out way to rank.." Prince said as his eyes search for one in particular person.

Eging can see his restlessness but ignores it with a soft chuckle.

"Let's start." N-pacer spoke as they all walk forward. Once they grasped the crowds attention they went down the rules for the short game they'll have. As Prince volumes his tone he then can see someone shuffle through the crowd only for him to spot the squid from yesterday.

He smiles kindly and continues on with the announcement.

Laceless may have shown up late but he got the idea on what's happening and then all went to the stage that's in the back of the monarchs mansion. Pumped up and way nervous, Laceless still continues on with a shy smile.

"Alright. Let's get started!" Prince shouts out and soon the game starts. N-pacer is on a team with three other randoms who she'll have to watch their performance, while Eging and Prince are on the same team with two other randoms.

This is the strategy they are using to watch how the randoms play with teammates, seeing if they can support the others and the game.

Hours were pulled into this game as they went down almost every player that came. Then soon enough Laceless was up next. He went on Princes and Egings team which means he's up against N-pacer.

"Watch out for her shots. She'll get you when you least expect it." Eging warned with a laugh following through. Laceless tenses up and shuffles in place with his nerves making things worse. "Hey" a soft tone broke through the squids mind only to be face to face with Prince.

"It'll be alright. We got your back." The new King shows his sweet smile as the now sun yellow squid blushes brightly, too which Prince saw and chuckles softly with his kind smile still there.

"Let's get this started!" Eging jumps down along with the rest and start inking the area around them. Laceless flanks left making sure he doesn't fail or miss a spot that can cost them the game. Prince makes way to the center with a random squid supporting behind. Eging went to the right and already is making good head way.

A shot was suddenly made that past Laceless face. He ducks low and swims away to see who the shot belonged too.

And to much not of a surprise, he saw that it was N-pacer. Laceless was now trapped for sure
