"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank every single one of you guys for being here today and supporting me," Harry stands tall, holding a glass of champagne in his hand. "You may not realise it, but each one of you have helped this album become more than a figment of my imagination. From mixing the tracks and helping play instruments," he looks in the direction of Mitch and Sarah, "to simply egging me on and giving me inspiration and comfort," he locks eyes with me, before looking back across the room, "thank you. I love you all endlessly. Enjoy the album!"
The group laughs as Harry leans forward and scurries away from the front of the room, holding his drink high in the air. He takes his seat next to me, his force nearly causing me to spill my own drink. "Watch it!" I laugh, nudging his side. He sticks his tongue out to me, giving me the middle finger.
"Haz, where's the music, dude?" Liam asks from his seat on the couch. A look of realisation washes over Harry as he hands me his drink and shoots up again.
"Forgot to press play... sorry!" He runs back to the front of the room again, heading to the speaker. The room fills with laughter, comments following in suit.
What a character!
A little too tipsy already, Styles?!
Jesus Christ, Bud!
He shyly presses play, and the beginning of Golden fills the room. People let out a cheer of victory, in both hearing the song play and for Harry successfully doing the simple task of turning his album on. It doesn't take much to excite this lot of people. "Well done," I hold my drink to him, and he clings them together, sitting down once again.
"Thanks, I guess."
"No worries."
We'll be a fine line. We'll be alright.
Sniffles fill the room as the final chords of Fine Line echo through my ears. I grip Harry's hand tightly, letting the tears fall down my face.
"I am SO proud of you, Harry Styles-s." I whisper yell, leaning into his side, "I am so unbelievably proud. I... I wish I was able to put into words just how I am feeling right now." I feel the alcohol swirling inside me as I smile at him, letting go of his hand to wipe my tears.
He smiles back, mouth opening as if he is about to speak. He instead presses his lips into a sincere smile. "I love you, Ave. Thank you. I wouldn't have been able to do this without your guidance. You've helped me evolve into the person I am today."
"I love you too, Haz. It's... it's us until the end, yeah?"
Harry's brows furrow slightly, and before he could respond, a hand claps his shoulder. People have since risen from their seats, chattering mindlessly to each other as the music coming from the front of the room changes. "Well done, man. Honestly." Niall appears before us, smiling, "that album was a fucking masterpiece. If that thing doesn't win any awards I swear to go-"
"Thanks, Nialler. I really appreciate it. I'll talk to you later, yeah?"
Niall keeps his wide smile as he nods at Harry. Giving us a thumbs up, he disappears back across the room, drink in hand. As soon as he is out of earshot, Harry turns to me.
"Of course it's us until the end, Ave. Is everything okay?" He grabs one of my hands with two of his, looking me in the eyes.
"Yeah, everything's fine, H. I just wanted to make sure that you know I will be staying by your ugly ass until the death does us part. I'm going to support you unt-"
"I'm sorry... I know you're trying to be serious now but-" Harry breaks his words with a wheeze, leaning his head forward onto my shoulder for a moment, "-but that sounded like a half-assed wedding vow."
I roll my eyes, attempting to hide my amusement, "I'm being serious. I love you. I couldn't imagine being best friends with anyone else in the world besides you, Harry Styles."
Harry pulls himself together, eyes softening at me, "I'm glad, Ave. I'm glad. How about we do some dancing now? I'll change the song to anything you want."
