(I know I say this every musical chapter, but I know barley anything about how this stuff is done but I really wanted Ave to do make her own music since the fact she could sing was kind of forgotten- P)
It's a new year, 2033.
Harry's birthday is coming up and I've spent the last week online shopping and trying not to give things away, I'm horrible at secrets.
I sit on the couch on my laptop, flicking through sites and different shops, trying to find something he would love and wear everyday. I know he likes handmade stuff, so I flick through Etsy at different custom jewelry I could get him. I do freelance photography, weddings and all that jazz. It's pretty fun and the majority of the money gets saved to put towards the album.
August obviously sells copies of his art, and then there's Harry but that's not important. We do OK and we live well. I know not everyone can, so a portion of whatever the album makes I'll donate. When I told Harry, he wrapped me in a massive hug and told me he loved that idea.
Speak of the devil, the front door opens and I close my laptop quickly so he doesn't see.
"Avery!" Harry calls out, rushing into the room in a hurry, curls messy and a blue T-shirt.
"Harold" I respond, spotting a notebook in his hand and also a few handmade bracelets around his wrists that fans gave him.
"I have a song that I've finished that needs to go on your album" He declares, sitting down next to me and I reach over to put my laptop on the coffee table.
"Harry, I can't that's your song" I tell him and he shakes his head. I can't expect him to write my whole album, the occasional help is fine but I don't want to rely on him to do everything for me. Not to be rude to him, but this is my album and my songs.
But I suppose 1 song wouldn't hurt, I mean he's going to have writing credits everywhere on this album so why not say fuck it and let him help.
"You've written enough songs, let me give you this one..I'll think you'll like it" He smiles and I sigh, which he takes as an agreement because he opens his notebook, flicking through the pages and gets to the last, passing it over to me to read.
Luckily, I've spent years reading his messy writing and can understand it, even though it's just scribble on a page.
'if I didn't have you' I read the title out loud, scanning the lyrics.
"Harry, I though you said this was finished?" I ask, it's clearly missing parts but it's really good.
"I was finished" He starts to explain "but you aren't, I want you to finish the rest.. but if you think it's shit then don't worry about it"
"No!" I shake my head, reading the lyrics over again "it's really good, honestly I love it"
A small smile forms on his face and he takes the notebook back from me, kneeling down on the floor and beckoning me to join him, which I do.
He passes me a pen from his pocket and flips to a clean page in his book, deciding to go with whatever he had already written mixed with whatever I come up with. He writes the first verse back down, and then the chorus.
I write down the words to the second verse I came up while Harry hums a tune, stroking Daisy as she comes over to see what we are up to.
"If I didn't have you" He sings quietly to the cat, who purrs in response "What would I be? If I didn't have you, what could I see? If I didn't have you, what could I be?"
