LEAH

I'm drunk as hell.

I came to the bar, Old Point, as soon as Helen had kicked me out. It seemed to be like the best place for curing my woes.

Especially since I couldn't eat ice-cream because I had a cold.

Okay fine, I don't have a cold. I just want the alcohol.

Tess had called me several times; I had told her I was at home, eating ice-cream.
I don't think she believed me, but who cares?

I feel tired, and I'd like to stay back here, at the bar itself. I also feel the alcohol wearing off, making my head more clearer. Maybe I should just go back home.

I try to stand up and realise that it's a bad idea. My headache is painful, and I sit back down, waiting for the hangover to clear.
Which is probably going to take a lot of time.

Meanwhile, plenty of men approach me, but they're all vague, insignificant, like flies.

I think I saw Will too, but I'm not really sure. Especially when Will look-alike began to kiss another guy.

I definitely did have too much alcohol tonight.

I gaze around the bar, thinking of the last time I was here. Will was the one who had brought me to the place, back when we were dating. We'd bonded that night, for the first time as friends rather than lovers.

I'd actually wanted to show Tess this place, but I didn't have a chance.

And now I'm here, all by myself.

The barmaid seems protective of me, after seeing all the men who approached me.
I remember her telling me about renting a room, but I'd waved her away.

I don't care about anything. Don't care if I die at this point. Why do we all exist anyway? Everything is pointless.

I'm proved wrong by the appearance of a certain someone.

Adam walks up to me. How did he find me here?

"What are you doing here?" I ask. I'm embarrassed that he's seeing me like this.
Drunk and wasted.

"I came to see you", he says softly, his low voice comforting.

"Why do I see you wherever I go?"
I wonder aloud.

"Has it ever crossed your mind that I could be stalking you?" He questions, giving me a playful smile.

That single statement was enough to wake me up from my stupor.
ADAM'S BEEN STALKING ME?

Suddenly I can't breathe.
"No...", I manage to force out.

He laughs at me, "You're so cute".

I turn around to see if there is any other girl.
Nope. There's only me.
Is he possibly flirting with me?

"Yes, Leah. I am talking to you." He confirms.
He grins at me, his smile seems bashful?
Is that even possible?

Suddenly he puts an arm around me and gives me a sideways hug. His hand squeezes my arm. Then it moves downward, ever so slowly, to wrap around my waist.

He's definitely flirting with me.

"Do you have any alcohol left for me?", he asks, his voice deep. I can feel the vibration in his throat.

I shake my head. "Why though?" I ask him.
Now he wants to get drunk with me? This is so weird.

"I broke up with my girlfriend today."
Adam states. He orders a drink for himself.

His hand is still on my waist.

"Oh, was it that bad?" I ask. I remember the day I'd broken up with Will. It had been such a mess.

"No, its a relief actually. She only wanted to sleep with me", He replies.

I look up to see his face. Instead, I see his sharp jawline, his sculpted neck, his broad shoulders. As he takes a swig of his drink, his Adam's apple moves, making my mouth go dry.

The things I want, am I any better than his ex-girlfriend?

"You're so pretty." He speaks out of nowhere.
"You look like an angel."

He moves his head to rest it against my neck. His soft hair tickles my jaw, and I let out a chuckle.
I am enjoying this, whatever it is.

He moves his head on purpose now, so that he's tickling me.
I start laughing uncontrollably, as I'm extremely ticklish.

I'm still laughing as he lifts his head to look back at me. The hand on my waist lifts me so that I'm sitting on his lap.

I suck in a breath, trembling at the position we were in. His face was so close, I could smell his breath. His blond hair looks much darker now.

His intense eyes regard me, lingering on every feature of my face. His fingers brush through my hair.

I place my hands on his sculpted chest, to get a grip of what he was doing to me. Instead, I find myself more dazed, my breathing ragged.

I stare at his lips, now curved in a half-smile. I lean forward and close the gap, my lips on his.

He kisses me back, with fervour, with fire.
The kiss deepens, as my hand grabs his hair.
We remain so for a few minutes, engaged in absolute bliss, feeling the world pause around us.

When we finally separate, my eyes fall on his untouched drink. He wasn't drunk at all.
This wasn't some random impulse.
It was planned.

Adam follows my gaze.
"Yes, I meant every bit of it", he whispers tenderly, before kissing me again.
