One of the most tiring days of the indoctrination followed soon. Without any explanation or more than a few words, they moved us to the closest forest which served as the medium between Nightless city and Gusu.

There, we were supposed to search for a cave, but no further detail was given to us. From what I could hear from the other cultivators, no one truly knew what we were looking for and why. As we walked, I came to a halt and looked above us.

The sun was out, and the day was fairly warm and nice. It was mocking us, and its peace was clashing with the storm within my soul. As I spotted a passing cloud, my mind couldn't help but wonder if Xichen was alive and alright.

I kept trying not to lose hope for him, but it was getting harder with each passing day. My small trail of inner thoughts was interrupted by the sound of a whip against the air.

"Get moving" one of the Wen Cultivators shouted and made me roll my eyes.

Then my attention went to Wangji who had stopped once again to try and ease the pain in his leg. I couldn't stand to see him like that, but I was, unfortunately, powerless at that situation and I hated it.

Unaware to me, Wei Wuxian and the company were not too far away. The cultivator in black would soon find out the sad incident which took place a few days prior and haunted my nightmares ever since.

"What? The Cloud Recess was burnt?!" Wuxian shouted in a lower tone, repeating the shocking news he was just revealed by his friend.

The Nie heir gave a nod as he kept hiding behind a tree. "Yes. The Lan Clan's leader was seriously wounded"

"The damned Wen is so heartless and has no consciousness. He will be punished one day. Lan Zhan is crippled because of that?" he asked and looked at our direction was I forced Wangji to sit on a rock.

"They were going to burn down the library. Wangji tried to stop them but was attacked and ended up having his leg broken"

"What about Xi-gege?"

He looked down for a moment. Holding the fan tightly in his arms before looking at his friend. "He fought and tried to protect Wangji but was injured in the process"

By the moment he had learnt about me as well, my wound at my side had dried off and I was too busy with everything to remember to fully cover it. The stains of blood left there were visible but my skin, not that much.

Yet, I could feel his eyes and with the tip of mine I spotted him walking towards us but his eyes were mostly focused on Wangji. I slowly retreated it, giving the two men some space as I knew they had something special. Xichen did too.

I kept my attention on the duo, seeing how Wuxian offered Wangji to carry him. I couldn't help but smile faintly after such a long time at the kindness of the young cultivator. However, Wangji was too proud for that and the Wens wouldn't let us begin with.

With some pushing and shouting, they separated the duo and once again ordered us to keep searching and not slacking off. I death glared many as I waited for Wangji to limb towards me.

After a while, the cave was found but Wen Chao was nowhere to be found. That, of course, didn't stop his little mistress from searching him. She ran shouting his name as her chest jumped up and down in an overdramatic sense.

Some men stared and I looked at the other annoyed, for some men being as pervert as Wen Chao. However, I didn't fail to notice the discipline iron she held at her hand. It was a very dangerous one that if it burnt, it would forever brand you.
