Umupo ako sa couch at humarap sa mommy niya. I don't really know kung okay ba sa kaniya na tawagin ko siyang Tita or what. I managed to give her a smile.
"Leave us Kienn." napatingin ako kay Kienn. He's watching his mom intently.
"I'm staying. You can talk." sumandal siya sa pader at namulsa.
"Kienn, take a shower first." sabi ko sa kaniya. He looked at me, worried.
"Later." pagmamatigas niya.
"If you insist." sabi ng mommy niya. She's very intimidating.
"I'm going to be honest. I don't like you for my son." I know that this would happen pero grabe, masakit pala. Na imagine ko na kanina na ito yung mangyayari pero hindi ako handa, at hindi ako magiging handa. Sa lahat ng naging boyfriend ko, yung mommy palang ni Kienn ang tumanggi sakin. It's my first time to be rejected by a parent.
"Mom. Stop." si Kienn. Lumapit siya sakin. I can't move. I can't even talk.
"Kienn? Really? Alam mo naman diba ang gusto ko?" yung Mommy niya. She's calm. Her voice was calm.
"Pero iba ang gusto ko sa gusto mo! What? An architect? An engineer? Mommy naman! What's wrong with a fashion designer? Nakipag date na ako noon sa katrabaho kong architect! Tapos nakipag date na rin ako sa kaklase kong engineer! But what? Our relationship doesn't work out! Hindi nga kami tumagal eh!" tumalim ang paningin ko kay Kienn. Really?! Dapat niya bang isa-isahin ang mga naka date niya sa harap ko?!
"Break up with her and date Yssa. You two will not last long anyway." his mother stood up. Yssa? Si Cindy? She wants Cindy for her son?
"Yssa?! I'm treating her like a little sister for goddamned sake!" he shouted in frustration.
"Sorry ma'am but I'm not breaking up with your son." tumayo ako. She glared at me with grace.
"And mom, you don't need to like her. Just respect her, not as my girlfriend but as a woman. Because she deserves it." Kienn held my hand.
"The both of you will just hurt each other. And trust me son, the both of you will just break up, sooner or later." I didn't talk back, same with Kienn.
"I'm leaving." pagkaalis niya ay napa upo ako sa couch.
"Sorry about that." si Kienn. He looked very upset.
"It's fine." I sighed.
"She wants Cindy for you." sabi ko. She wants an architect or an engineer for her son. Kung nalaman ko lang na ganito pala edi sana nag engineer nalang ako diba. What's wrong with being a fashion designer? I'm a well known in New York!
"And I want you." natigilan ako.
"I don't care about my mom Winter. Noon sinusunod ko pa siya, pero ngayon, alam ko kung ano ang gusto ko. At ang gusto ko ang masusunod." lumapit siya sakin. He kissed my forehead.
"So, ilang months kayo nung girlfriend mong architect and engineer?" pinanliitan ko siya ng mata.
"Ewan. I forgot." sabi niya at niyakap ako. Sinungaling. He's just avoiding my question.
"Tell me honestly, hindi mo naman naka date si Cindy diba? I mean, gusto siya ng mama mo kaya it's possible."
"It's impossible for me. I can't even imagine it Winter! I know her since we were a child at kapatid ko na siya kung ituring! Kaya nakakadiri iyun para sakin." depensa niya.
"Okay. Maligo ka na! Ang baho mo!" lumayo ako sa kaniya pero mas lalo lang siyang dumikit sakin.
"Let's shower together. Mabaho ka na rin eh." binato ko siya ng throw pillow.
