Throughout the past few weeks, Emerald had been through a lot. Every horribly conceivable torture method she could think of, had already been done to her.
She had cried, she screamed, she even begged for death; nothing but pain followed.
Now she was in a situation that made all the horrors she'd been through look like the top of the iceberg.
Lance's head was in her lap, and he was bleeding badly. Everyone else was incapacitated for the most part. Ahmir, Ernest, Ronald, Lance, Greg, Irvin, Ronnie, and Sanai has all been shot with some sort of tranquilizer dart. Emerald was holding Lance's head in her lap; she had removed the dart from his chest, but he still couldn't move."Something's.... wrong", he groaned. His eyes were halfway opened, and he looked as if he were dying.
Emerald was on the verge of tears, she did not make it this far just to watch them die.
"It's often my scientific knowledge is overlooked because of my physical prowess", the shadowy figure down the hall said. "I told them that just pumping tranquilizer in your systems wouldn't be enough, you're too dangerous for that. So I took it upon myself to develop my own".
He stepped closer into Emerald's view, and she could better make out his features. He was a tall Caucasian man with a scraggly beard, and a very buff build. Behind him were two more guards who were dressed in all black tactical outfits. They looked like a band of highly paid thugs.
The leader of the group tapped his ear and said, "Beta, we are in position, cover their flank immediately".
On command, five more guards appeared behind them, they were completely surrounded.
"I didn't bother making a dart for you", the head guard announced. "I heard you were a pacifist, it's best that you just surrender now".
At that moment, Emerald was pissed. She did not just get told to surrender herself just so she can get killed. Every muscle in her body tingled with anger. She had been trying to keep calm, but now it was a life or death situation.
She felt the life in her surroundings, she could feel the plants in the cracks beneath her. She knew what she had to do.
She let her mind reach out to any plant-life she could find close to her, and commanded it to expanded and grow.
The three guards in front of her started to come closer, but they didn't make it ten feet near her. Plant life from all corners of the corridor surrounded them, and engulfed them until she couldn't see them anymore."Freeze!", the guards behind her yelled. She had nearly forgotten about them, in the rush of everything.
"Don't make another movement", the guard in the middle demanded; he began to move closer to the group. "If I see so much as one plant move, I will blow your damn brains out".
"I... never understood", Ronnie moaned. He was sprawled on the ground, but he could still move somewhat.
"I... never understood why.... you yell freeze", he said weakly. He then grabbed the leg of the guard's leg, who had inadvertently been standing beside him.
The guard started to shrivel; his skin became grey and wrinkled, and the life in his eyes drained away slowly.
Ronnie however began to get up, and looked more alive than ever.
The guards looked at him in horror, not sure what to do next."Emerald, get those darts out of them", Ronnie commanded to her.
She was stunned at what just happened, but she did as he asked. She commanded any other plant-life around her to form around her friends, and pull out their darts. While the plants were pulling out the darts, she could also feel their vitals. The plants became like medical devices, they told her what was wrong with them and how to heal them.
