*30 minutes before the announcement*

After they had all gotten acquainted with each other; including another captive named Ronnie, a tall light-skin boy with dreads who didn't talk too much. The group of escapees had begun to run throughout the hallway that seemed to be miles long. The hallway was dark and had an ominous feeling within it. The only light source they had was the radiant energy Ahmir had been generating from his hands (something that everyone found impressive).
The only thing they could make out of their surroundings was that it was an all-grey corridor, about twenty feet high and about thirteen meters wide. With Ahmir's light they could see about a few feet ahead of them, but besides that they didn't know where they were heading. They could've been running into a room filled with a hundred armed men, but they all agreed it was better to move forward than sit around.

"Damn, a bunch of well-groomed scientists with military grade equipment can't afford to keep their lights on", Irvin complained as they kept pushing forward.

"I know right", Ernest agreed. "Hey Ahmir, can you shine that light of yours even brighter for me".

Ahmir scowled and said, "Sorry this is the best I can do. I'm not too good a controlling it, and last time I used it too I accidentally burnt somebody's hand off".

"Yeah, let's not do that", Greg said nervously.

"I like my hands", Emerald added.

"Agreed", said Sanai.

The group kept moving forward, carefully but quickly. Ronald and Lance were leading the group, while Ahmir stayed behind the two, providing the light source. They continued running for about five more minutes before Lance's foot hit something metal.

CLAAANNG

"The hell was that?", Irvin questioned.

Lance observed the area his foot hit and spotted a glint of metal.

"Ahmir, bring your light closer to the floor right here", he commanded.

Ahmir complied and brought his glowing hands closer to the area Lance had instructed him to. There they made out a large, five foot, square panel on the floor.

"Yes, this is perfect!", Ernest declared. He rushed next to the panel and ran his hands along the grooves of it

"How so?", Ronald asked while standing to analyze the panel.

"This could be either one of two things: a compartment that leads to somewhere besides this hallway, or a electrical box that can possibly put some lights in here", he replied.

"I bet it's just an electricity box", Irvin said.

"Well, I'm hoping it's some sort of escape hatch, I mean just look at the size of it", Ernest said back.

"Fact, how much you wanna' bet it's just an electrical box?", Irvin shot back.

He looked up at Irvin and asked, "Do you even have any money?".

"What, you scared to bet on it?", Irvin asked him.

"No, I just want to know", he answered.

"Then let's bet on it", Irvin shot back.

Ernest then said, "But I want to know i-".
