Sadlyeen slumped on a chair while Melanie embraced Dale after they got to his club where they were supposed to meet.
“Hello to you too. . .”Dale said dryly.
“Kisses brother, I am so tired I can’t stand for another second. All I can think about is my very comfy bed.” Sadlyeen yawned.
“She has been whining the whole way here almost driving me crazy.” Melanie put in.

Sadlyeen was truly tired. She had spent half the day in the field and the other half going through files. She watched Dale begin explaining and showing Melanie everything eyes half open. There were loads to go through and she didn’t feel like they needed her, after all, Dale knew what she did. Tuning Dale’s voice out she stretched her legs, put them on the table, slid lower into the chair and adjusted her body into a comfortable position. After a few struggles to keep her eyes open, she gave up and closed them falling asleep.

Sadlyeen got out of the car as soon as it stopped and ran towards the mansion that was their house, past the living room, up the stairs all the way to her father's study and burst through the door. Her father was seated on his chair behind his desk talking on the phone.
“Daddy!” She screamed increasing her towards him.
“Hi sweetheart.” He hung up in time to have Sadlyeen jump on his lap and hug him tightly. He hugged her and smiled brushing his fingers through her hair. The short sprint had left it dishevelled.

“For a thirteen tear old girl you’re pretty strong. You are crushing me.
She let go off him and begun examining his chest a determined expression on her face.
“Where?” she asked
Her father laughed at her gullibility. “I’m kidding.”
She pouted and gave him a stern look.
“I missed you,” he told her
She smiled at him. “I missed you more.” She hugged him again and went on. “I wanted to stay at home so I’d be here when you came but mom said I had to go to school.”
“She was right; we wouldn’t want your grades to suffer now, would we?”

Sadlyeen rolled her eyes. “Like one day would affect my grades, a week wouldn’t either.”
“You are a smart girl.”
“I sure I’m.” she grinned.
“Remember though, being smart is only the beginning. You have to work to succeed.”
“Yeah, yeah…”
“Sadlyeen.” He scolded lightly.
“Dad, you’ve given me the working hard speech as advice, a lecture and every chance you get. I certainly will never forget it. I’ll even promise to recite it to my children word by word.”
“Okay, fair enough.” His smile widened. “Is it me or my princess has grown prettier in the two weeks I’ve been away.”
“I’m not pretty.”
He held her face in his hands and kissed her forehead. “Of course you are. You are the prettiest girl in the world.”
“Fathers are supposed to say that to their daughters.” She said.
“True but I mean it princess.”
“Prettier than mom?”
He knew she was baiting him. “Yes but don’t tell her I said that.” She giggled. “I brought you something.”
“What is it?” she asked expectantly looking around.
“A few things actually but first, go change your uniform and come back after twenty minutes. I need to make a call.”
“Okay.” She stood up to leave the room.
“No running in the house honey.”
She walked in a slow exaggerated manner towards the door.

“Sade… Sade!”
She woke up to Dale’s voice.
“Hmmm.”
“Wake up.”
“You’re done?” she opened her eyes and stretched.
Dale nodded, she had been dreaming. Well, it had been a memory to be particular.
“Let’s go. You can’t drive so we are going home.” Dale stated.
“Okay, I’ll call Kyle and tell him.” Sadlyeen agreed standing up.

Jenny was so happy to see Sadlyeen she fussed all over her. When the Argent siblings moved into her house, their adopted mother had taken up the role with dedication and commitment. The first few weeks she barely slept between sadlyeen's nightmares and Melanie's nightly cries. Even Dale's insomnia had not detered her. Handling three traumatized children was a lot for Jenny and her husband but she would have done anything for her best friends children. Having gone home that evening, Dale and Sadlyeen were treated to the usual motherly concern and affection. She complained that Sadlyeen was growing slim who just sat in the kitchen smiling as Jenny heaped food onto a plate. She would probably never be able to call Jenny mom but she loved her like a daughter does her mother.

A/N: Hiiii, this chapter is a bit short but I wanted to show a bit of Sadlyeen's younger life and her relationship with her father to understand why his death would affect her as it did. There will be more. Thank you, thank you for the reads!💜
