Strutting into her office, Sadlyeen accepted the unexpected hands that wrapped around her so fast she almost dropped her bag.
“Chrissie!” she exclaimed but smiled. Their relationship though professional was affected by their friendship part. Many a times Chrissie forgot her role as the assistant and gave it to Sadlyeen straight and other times, like now, she forgot they were at work.
Sadlyeen always maintained a strict professional relationship with her employees but with Chris she couldn’t help it. They had been working together for around three years now and within that time they had gotten close. Not as close as Kyle and she but close. Speaking of Kyle she needed to call him.“Sorry boss.” Chris said not apologetic at all.
Sadlyeen shook her head and walked with her assistant towards her desk while she informed her of her schedule.
“And lastly, you are meeting Mr. Greene in 25 minutes.” She concluded after looking at her watch.
“I know, I just came to get some stuff.”
“Well boss, I’ll see you later. And behave.”Sadlyeen rolled her eyes and watched Chris make a 360 degree turn heading to her own office. She had never told her why she so intently loathed the handsome Michael Greene.
Handsome? What the hell? He wasn’t handsome. She chided herself. But she knew the truth.
Quite the situation indeed, her body still responded to Michael. She'd be damned if she couldn’t control herself. She was Argent, as strong as they came when determined.
She collected what she needed and winked at Chrissie, whose office was a small distance outside her’s with the front covered with glass only, on her way out. Chrissie rolled her eyes; she so knew Sadlyeen had rolled her’s at being told to behave.
Sadlyeen exited the building to find Xavier near her Porsche.
“Xave, you have to stop stalking me. These parking lot meetings are weird.” Xavier just shook his head.
“You missed me didn’t you?” she pecked his cheek when she reached him.
“I came to see how you are doing.” He responded.
“One of these days I’ll get you to admit it.” He had, she could see the fondness in his eyes. He just smiled.
“I’m here to take you where you are headed you can get the car when I bring you back.”He did that once in a while but today was suspicious. How did he know, how did he know she was meeting Michael. The list of people who despised the bastard included him. He had after all been the first recipient of a hurt Sadlyeen.
After punching Michael that day she ran off to Xavier who had been outside waiting for the valet to bring the car around. It was as if he sensed her pain because he turned as she went through the door and flung herself at him crying. Shocked at first, it had dissipated his expression turning lethal as if he would annihilate the source of her tears. After all, he had never seen her cry.
“You are a sneaky man, Xave.” She told him but he pretended not to have an idea of what she referred to however, she had seen the sides of his mouth lift up slightly. She headed to the car he had come with. “I missed you too Xavier.” She said as she got in the car. It had been two months.
A short fifteen minute drive later she got out and Xavier drove off. She would text him when she needed to go. She wasn't in any danger but Xavier would be inside the hotel thrashing Michael in a second if Sadlyeen came out crying again. That seemed highly unlikely though.
She strided through the rotating doors to the reception. Dimly lit inside the result of translucent glass panes it created a serene environment. Inside, the theme colors beautifully merged red, gold and white together. The chairs and tables stood perfectly arranged as if someone had measured the spaces exactly.
When she gave her name the steward lead her towards the two-seat tables. Checking the area she realized Michael hadn’t arrived, if he got late she would skewer him.
Hah, one to talk; she wasn’t exactly winning an award for time keeper anytime soon. She settled at the table shown to her, ordered a glass of water and pulled out her phone to text chat with Kyle.
