Mr. Simon Kanyi personally waited for them at the airport when the jet landed and they descended. She hugged him in greeting and introduced the rest.
He led them to the two range rovers he had been waiting beside. A driver got out of one and loaded their luggage into the vehicles.
Sadlyeen and Kyle rode with Simon while her siblings got in the other vehicle. It was different, for a long stretch of the road there were busy roads and skyscrapers then it changed into open breathtaking green fields.
They drove for a while before they got to their hotel. Sadlyeen wished her father could see it and for a moment there were tears in her eyes.
She would have liked to explore the country more but they were there on different matters.
Another time.
Simon was a kind man who politely pointed out interesting features and landmarks. He kept up conversation cracking a few jokes and Sadlyeen happy to oblige him.
She could see why her father liked the man. He was even a little philosophical, that must have pleased the philosopher in her father.
At the hotel, they found everything already in place so their bags were taken to their rooms. Simon had to take care of business so he left after an invitation to dinner.
They took the elevator to their floor. Melanie and she shared one room while the guys took another. They spent time cleaning and resting up. By the time they left for dinner they'd formulated a game plan in.
They actually had a good time at Simon’s home. They met his wife and two children the former of which had been truly welcoming.
Trying new delicacies had been a delight with the children laughing at each mild unpleasant reaction.
Sadlyeen especially loved 'chapatis', they were small rolled out dough pieces cooked in little oil till brown. Apparently a common meal in the area. The children confessed they liked them most with tea but upon trying it, she much preferred with stew.
Afterwards Simon's driver dropped them off at the hotel but while Kyle and Melanie went in, Sadlyeen and her brother got a taxi to meet a liaison.
She had no idea how Dale got the connections but she wasn’t too concerned. Besides, Dale insisted they needed to have plausible deniability truthfully if anything ever went wrong on the legal side.
No way she'd let that happen but she figured close reliable connections and money talked.
They met another Kenyan man and an American in a club. They discussed the details and the siblings returned to the hotel.
The next day they all visited the subsidiary where Sadlyeen skimmed through numerous reports but declined any more work.
First, her mind was too preoccupied and second she wanted to assure Simon he had her trust. Mr. Kanyi needed to get back to work but promised to see them before they left after they returned from safari.
The cover story claimed they were going on safari to the North of the country. The Kenyan man would play the role of driver and the American the liaison to the area. They planned to leave the next day for three days then come back to the city and home.
Todd Harper ran arms business in a neighboring country, not that Sadlyeen expected convertion of these people but sadly, scum was still scum.
They left the next day early in the morning leaving Kyle to his exploration in the city. If all went as planned they would be in and out. However, things rarely go as planned. After travelling for around ten hours they arrived as the sun set. Extremely fatigued and spent the siblings turned in early.
On next day, they toured the local tourist attractions taking as many photos as possible. Visual evidence could come in handy.
