Quite a lifestyle Sadlyeen had chosen, there she was crouched behind a… bush? Shrub? Whatever.

She could be at home, warm rather than out on a particularly cold night. She wondered what took so long?

Jeremy was supposed to be a decent enough hacker. Her tech knowledge didn't run far but Dale always said Jeremy skills were so good it baffled him sometimes.

Sometimes, her life felt like a movie.

They were on the second target, Gilbert Spencer. Actually, more like outside his house.

Gilbert could be described as a paranoid man who had a reputation for laundering money but especially moving untraceable cash. Pretty hands on given a computer and internet, he couldn't necessarily be ranked among the best. However, he got the job done and avoided law enforcement successfully.

“Mission is go” Jeremy’s voice came through the earpiece.

She took a deep breath and ran the short distance to the door. They couldn't waste any time, Gilbert most probably had an alert for intrusive hacking.

Jeremy had disabled the doors and house alarm. Judging by the only heat signature in the house he was in the basement, probably his equipment too.

She often wondered where Dale got the equipment they used but didn’t ask.

Remembering the blueprints, she moved fast to the kitchen aiming for the basement. It was rather a huge surprise when she came face to face with Gilbert clad in a robe, shorts and flip flops carrying a bowl of cereal.

Someone had grown comfortable in their lifestyle and less careful. She saw him freeze for a second and read the determination that flickered in his eyes. That enabled her to dodge the bowl that came hurtling for her head, then he took off.

When it came to fight or flight, her last encounters all chose running.
He skidded to a halt in front of Dale raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.

Dale had come in through the front door a few minutes after Sade did the back. They left Melanie in the van with Jerry. The van was repainted each week and the plates changed. It didn’t hurt to be too careful. Their mission wasn’t exactly within legal jurisdiction.

“Alright Argents let’s get this over with.” Sadlyeen's eyes widened at that.
“I’m curious Gilbert, why ruin three lives.” She asked him.

He gestured around him. The money, of course. She couldn’t pretend to understand, she had grown up with money and even after her parents demise her adopted parents had plenty of it. Plus hefty trust funds when they were eighteen and the company they inherited.

Gilbert led them to the basement, she didn't know what she had expected but it wasn’t what she found. It looked more like a den, low couches, one big flat screen and a bunch of laptops. It seemed he barely left the place. That would change soon because he'd be doing a lot of running.

She didn’t spare the place much of a glance so it was difficult to describe it. She stayed alert eyes on Gilbert who settled on a chair next to the computers.

“So are you guys here to kill me?” he asked. He seemed pretty composed.
“There are worse things than death.” Sadlyeen put in slowly.
“Can I put my hands down?” to that she nodded no.
“I’m surprised you know who we are.”
“It’s not easy to forget your first big pay.”

The guy really played with fire. No remorse whatsoever. Then she wouldn't be bothered by what happened next.

“Can I use your computer? Never mind, I’ll just help myself.”
