"I can't believe you're the only one who didn't cry." Harry had just spent his night balling his eyes out to a rom-com with the Tomlinson family. The distraction was very necessary.

Harry was alone with Louis in his room now. He wasn't surprised at Louis' ability to sneak him into the room, but he was surprised by how much the room had changed in the short time since he'd been there. "Yeah, well...once you've seen one, you've seen them all." Louis seemed to admire Harry as he got reacquainted with the room.

Harry smiled at the god-awful poster he made for him hanging on the still grey wall. "You know, I've never seen you cry. Wasn't there ever a flick that just got to you? The Notebook? Titanic?"

"Nope. Although, I will say there was definitely enough room for Leo on that raft...thing" He chuckled sweetly. "and the fact that she just let that gorgeous man go never sat right with me."

Harry gave him a half-smile and well-earned eye roll. He continued to wander through his room with a comfortable silence.

He hadn't noticed how close Louis had gotten to him as looked through the goofy pictures scattered along his desk that Harry had printed out for him. He suggested getting frames for them but Louis never followed his advice.

Louis put a hand over the boy's bicep but let him continue gazing at his possession. "What happened tonight?" He whispered so faintly he almost didn't make a sound at all.

Harry swallowed hard and stepped away from Louis and the messy desk. He sat at the edge of Louis' bed and played with the rings on his fingers instead of looking up at him. "It really wasn't even that big of a deal."

Louis pulled out his desk chair so he could sit in front of the clearly distressed boy. He put a hand in his hair so he'd feel comfortable raising his gaze. "You're wearing sweats, love." He tried to ease the tension for him. "You never wear sweats." He ran a finger over his collar exposing the tag. "Which, I guess explains that." He giggled a laugh so bubbly Harry couldn't help but return a smile. "Don't get me wrong, I definitely think this a look." Harry smiled even wider. Somehow, in baggy clothes and with puffy eyes Louis still managed to hit on him.

"My dad. He got home early. I wasn't expecting it. It just didn't go well." He wasn't ready to elaborate and he hoped Louis was okay with that.

"I'm sorry, baby." He stroked his hair reassuringly. "I know he can be harsh, but you know how special you are right? Nothing anyone could say or do will ever change that." Louis had a way with words. He had such a strong conviction in his tone. It was hard not to believe it.

"I don't know how to get him to see it that way. I don't know if he'll ever be able to accept me for me." Harry thought aloud and those thoughts scared him. How was he going to come back from this? How could he go on living a lie?

"I know. I know. It's not right. Maybe he just needs some time. Have you tried telling him about the musical?" Louis kept an even tone.

"No, no way." The thought of his dad knowing the truth sent a panic through his body.

"I mean it may be a good place to start. Ease him into it. Let him slowly get to see the real you. He's a little close-minded now, but I think if he really saw how talented and special you really are he'd be so proud." Louis searched his eyes for a glimmer of hope.

"I can't." His voice broke. "It's a nice thought, but he'd never be okay with it. He'd make me quit the show for sure. I just can't." He protested.

"Okay. Stay calm. You don't have to do anything you don't feel comfortable doing, but baby, you know I hate to see you hide yourself like this. You don't have to listen to him. You're perfect." He took a hold of his hand and rubbed small circles with his thumb.

The touch alone sent a wave of calm through Harry. He felt safe. He felt invincible at his side. Louis was so undeniably beautiful to him that he wanted to believe someone so divine could really believe all those wonderful things about him.

Harry forgot they had mountains to move before they could ever truly be together again because at this moment Louis was right in front of him and he had never wanted to kiss somebody as much as he did then.

Harry pressed his forehead to Louis' still enjoying the euphoric feeling of his hand in his hair. He used his free hand to cup Louis' beautiful face. He brought his lips up to his but wasn't met with his in return.

Louis pulled away sharply. "I...can't. Not like this." He huffed out nervously.

Harry wanted to hide his face. He had never felt rejection like this. Of course he didn't really want him. Especially not like this.

"Tell you what, babycakes." He smiled. "If you still want me to kiss you tomorrow, I will." He gave him a pat on the knee and a playful stare.

Harry blushed at the foolish boy and pressed his eyes shut for a moment longer than usual. "Deal, " he nodded.

"That's my boy." Louis poked him in the side to get a laugh out of him.

"I should probably get home. It's late." Harry wasn't excited about going home to his problems but he definitely felt better about them at the moment.

"You know you can stay right?" He offered sincerely.

"Yeah. It's just all my stuff is at home...and school tomorrow...and everything." Harry thought it over.

"Will you call me when you get home?" Louis pleaded with his eyes.

"I don't know...it's gonna be late." Harry was hesitant.

"Just for a bit. I just wanna make sure you're okay. I won't keep you up." He stuck out his lower lip.

"Okay." He stood up and then bent down to kiss the top of the brunette boy's head.

He stopped himself at the foot of Louis' door. "Thank you. You're a really good..." Harry wasn't sure how he wanted to end that sentence. "You're just...good, Louis."

Louis gave him a half-smile back to let him know he accepted the bizarre compliment. "Alright, weirdo. Drive safe."

With that, Harry closed the door behind him and braced himself for what was ahead.

Well, I guess giving someone the cold shoulder is a little harder when you need one to cry on.
