*earlier that day*

It had been another exhausting day for Saint Louis. He had been on his kindness crusade for all of three days and he was over it.

At first, it was kind of nice. It made him feel powerful to know he could build someone up or tear them down. It was all up to him.

But people weren't so grateful anymore and Harry hadn't cared either way. It was time to consider this tactic a bust.

He didn't know if he was losing the game or if Harry had just stopped playing. He'd give anything to be able to read that boy's mind.

He cut out of his last period early with a note from his Mum he forged. His antisocial history teacher somehow failed to recall that Louis was the captain of the football team and could not possibly be leaving school half an hour early for a doctor's appointment. Idiot.

Louis texted Zayn and asked if he wanted to meet in the parking lot for a quick smoke. He was walking through the empty halls towards student parking when he heard hushed arguing near the auditorium.

"I told you what you need to do. So do it!" A low voice ordered.

Louis waited around the corner and tried to make out the voice. Whatever the argument was it sounded intense.

He peaked his head around the corner to be nosy and what he saw made his skin crawl.

Jordan had Diana pinned against the auditorium door. He held her by her wrists to restrain her as he raised his voice at the girl. She had tears in her eyes and a fearful look.

The guy was a complete tool. There was no way Louis could standby and watch something like that for a second. "Hey!" He shouted as he raced down the hall towards them.

Jordan stuffed something into her bag before stepping back.

"What's going on here?" Louis interrogated him.

"Just two friends waiting for rehearsal to start. What's it to you, Tomlinson?" He wore an arrogant smile that made Louis want to bash it in.

Diana quickly wiped the tears from her face and composed herself. "It's fine." She assured him.

Louis looked at the nervous girl skeptically. He could walk away now knowing he did the right thing by stepping in, but something told him it wasn't enough. "Find somewhere else to be." He ordered the smug boy.

"I don't have to listen to you, Tomlinson. You're not my captain." He got so close to his face he could feel his breath on his cheek.

"I know I'm not your captain. Don't forget I'm the only one who knows the truth as to why that is." He stared him down until he backed up.

He took a few steps back. "Fine." He smirked at Diana. "I have a few things to attend to anyway."

He turned on his heel and headed down the hallway until he reached the glass doors to the student parking lot.

Louis turned to the girl. "You good?"

"Uh-yeah. I'm fine." She studied Louis like an ancient hieroglyphic. "Why would you go to the trouble to do that?" She combed through the ends of her hair nervously.

Louis shrugged his shoulders vaguely. He didn't want this to turn into some sappy-hero bullshit.

"I heard about your whole small acts of kindness campaign. A lot of people were actually tweeting about it. I think that was pretty cool of you. Maybe I was wrong about you." She started to mumble towards the end.
