TW: Physical Abuse

"This is why shoes shouldn't come with wheels. Honestly, a death trap." Niall went on as he pulled out of the parking lot.

"Honestly, I'm fine." Diana insisted for the hundredth time.

"See, she's fine. Stop being a baby." Olivia whacked him.

"It's still early. You think we should stop for snacks at my place? You know, so we don't pay a fortune at the movies." His mind was on food, like usual.

"How very fiscally responsible of you." Harry teased.

"Huh?" He asked.

"He means that's a good idea." Olivia clarified.

Harry waited in the backseat with Diana while the pair picked out snacks for them inside. He wanted to make sure if her leg still hurt she wasn't walking on it.

He could see Louis' house from where they were sitting. His car was there but he wondered if Zayn had taken him home yet. Zayn agreed to be the designated driver tonight and he wondered if they had all went out and got drunk together like planned.

"You miss them already don't you?" She asked.

"It's definitely weird. Not having them around, you know?" Harry knew he could be honest with her.

"Yeah. You guys did everything together." She sympathized.

"Yeah, we did." He hated that he cared so much, but he couldn't help but wonder what they were doing right now.

"Do you think you guys will make up?" She tried to sound optimistic.

"I don't know, but I don't think it'll ever be the same between us. I think that's the scariest part. Everything is different now. Sometimes I wonder if Louis and I had never..." Harry caught himself thinking about him again. "It's stupid."

"It's not your fault. It's okay to miss them. It's okay to miss him." Harry liked that he never felt ashamed about his feelings when he was with her.

"It's okay to miss someone who treats you like garbage?" Harry let out a small almost inaudible chuckle.

"It's okay to miss someone who treats you like garbage. It's even okay to love them. As long as you know you're better off without them." She squeezed his hand.

Harry wiped at his eyes before the tears even started to fall. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." She nodded.

"Can I ask you something?" Harry reached out. "The bruises on your leg. I know they weren't new. I just...are you safe? Nobody's hurting you, right?" He couldn't hide his concern anymore.

"No, nobody's hurting me. As you can see, I'm not the most coordinated person." She laughed it off. "Why would you think that?"

"It sort of just reminded me of...well, like, when I was a freshman I went to another school and like I didn't really fit in as well as I do here. I sort of felt like everybody hated me. There was this one guy who used push me around, literally. He'd bump me in the halls with all his strength. He'd shove me when nobody was around. Trip me. He used to say the worst things. Nobody ever stuck up for me. Sometimes I'd have to hide the bruises on my arms from my mom. Then one day, I was walking home and he...he jumped me." Harry recalled his worst memory. "That wasn't as easy to hide. So my mom found out and then my dad found out. My mom told me I should fight back, get the guy expelled. I just sort of didn't want anything to do with it anymore. I begged my dad to let me move in with him and my sister and go here. And that was that." He didn't know what possessed him to open up like that. He had only ever really told Louis about the incident.

"That's horrible. I'm so sorry anyone ever treated you like that."

"Yeah. Well, it's in the past. I just want you to know if you ever are in a situation like that you can come to me. I don't ever want to see anyone mistreat you."

She bit her lip as she contemplated what to say. "I-thank you so much, Harry." She shook her head in bewilderment. "Nobody's ever..." She searched for the right words. "I've just never met anybody as kind as you."

"Yeah, that's uh sort of my problem I think. People tend to mistake my kindness for weakness, and I'm starting to think maybe it is." He bit the inside of his cheek.

She pondered the remark for a moment. "You know it doesn't take strength to walk all over someone, it takes strength to lift someone up. I think you're stronger than you realize."

Harry appreciated the sentiment. There was something about her. She just always knew what to say. "That's good. Is that a quote?"

"I don't think so. I should probably tweet it before you steal it, huh?" She laughed.

"Geez, is he packing his entire pantry?" He realized how long they had been talking.

Suddenly, he caught movement from the corner of his eye. Someone was coming out of Louis' house. Harry got out of the car to get a better look.

There was no way.

It was Tito. There was no mistaking it. He walked over to the car parked on Harry's side of the street. The closer he got the more certain Harry was that it was the older boy.

Harry was frozen. Tito stopped in his tracks as he noticed him. They locked eyes and a grin spread across his face.

His stupid smug face.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He was thrilled that Harry caught him coming out of that house.

Tito gave him a small wave that said he was proud of himself. He kept the smile on his face as he unlocked his car.

Harry didn't know what came over him. He couldn't let him get away with this anymore. Before he knew it he was running over to his car. It was time he gave him a piece of his mind.
