Yrene's dress
Chapter 40
Chase's PoV
I skipped school that Monday as I went shopping for a parting slash birthday gift that would befit my beloved elf.
Every shop I went to I found nothing that would look like the perfect addition to her bony, milky wrist or become her as it would sit below her artistically sculpted collar bones or her lovely, slender fingers.
This was my estate before I found, in a Cartier store, the perfect chain for her; I could already imagine locking the delicate chain of white gold beset with an emerald and diamond pendant around her warm neck. Just perfect. For my perfect little angel.
I payed the amount via credit card and got the velvet box wrapped and left the shop. ~*~ Yrene's PoV
Although, it is my birthday I dress down; keeping a low profile seems to be the best idea after the incident but my friends are set on having a dinner party at my house with my family.
Yes, my parents are home, as they said, they had come ''especially for my birthday.'
My father had been in my room the moment I awoke with a black dress bag in his hand and one of his handsome smiles on his face. He hugged me and kissed my forehead,
"Happy birthday sweetie!," handing me the bag he added on, "this is your gift from me."
I immediately unzipped the bad and in it lay the most beautiful dress I had ever seen, emerald green and silver. The bodice was supposed to be off shoulder as well as skin tight and glittered like a million stars in tones of grey and silver, the lower half was of the finest silk, underlined with ken-ken net to give it an Elizabethan shape and was pleated with fine creasees. It, in short, was a gorgeous gown, fit for a princess.
"Thank you Father." I had given him a genuinely grateful smile.
He had smiled warmly at me in return, "wear it to the gala." I gave him a brief nod and suddenly a cloak of coldness had fallen over the room as he began speaking again,
"Yrene about the engagement...I'm sorry...I had no choice...your mother..."
Ignoring the constriction I felt in my throat at his words I only nodded again and turned away from him. Like I said, I was well aware that this too was not his decision, he had been coerced by Mother. Speaking of her, thankfully, she wasn't around to ruin the mood.
"Baby why don't you try it on so that we can get it fixed up if there's anything wrong with it."
I smiled at him as I went inside to try it on and this was what I was doing right now, trying to zip up the bodice.
Let's just say it goes pretty well, for the first time in so long the dress had been loose on me and not tight. This fact alone is a birthday present for me. The shoulders are oddly fitting and keep on falling lower than they are supposed to and the bodice isn't hugging me as it is supposed to.
