Chapter 53
Yrene's PoV
Keeping it casual, I pair up one of Ross's graphic t shirts with my ripped and turned at the ankle mom jeans with a plain black leather belt. Putting my hair in a messy ponytail with two strands loose and curled, I slip on my rounded shades and push them up on my head as I throw my leather jacket on my arm. Quickly doing the laces to my combat boots I run down the stairs, out of pure habitual instinct.
"Damn! Sister you've got style! I mean you paired up my shirt such stylishly, like bro..."
I kiss Ross's cheek at the appreciation he has shown for my style, he doesn't usually does that but I feel like he's doing it because he feels like our parents don't do it enough.
"You look hot sweetie." Michele kisses my cheek.
"One outfit that I thought would be decent from behind but somehow my baby sister manages to show skin through it!" I give Raymond a backhanded slap on his suited shoulder and he punches me back, rather harshly which results in a back and forth punching math between the two of us.
"You riding with me, midget?"
"Shut up Gulliver! And no Jay's picking me up, I'll ride with him."
"Woohoo lil oompa loompa's got some action."
"Ross will you shut the fuck up, this is our little sister we are talking about. Please."
"What? It's the truth! Look at her she's so happy!" He pinches my cheeks and I scowl at him.
Raymond glares at our brother as he high fives Michele. Before I can experience more of the chaotic drama, the doorbell rings and I just know that it's my boyfriend. I wave goodbye to the three people I love most in the world and bolt out of the door.
"Hey babe." He pecks my lips and I respond with equal sweetness.
"Hey yourself pretty boy."
"Hey no PDA!" Raymond yells from one of the windows and I give him the middle finger , I know, I know that he's my older brother and that I should be respectful but sometimes these Jones boys get on my last nerve. And for emphasis I kiss Jason one more time.
We walk to his motorcycle and he hands me the helmet.
"I'm glad you consider me pretty."
"Who turned on your egoistic bastard button today?"
"You did, when you called me pretty." He smiles goofily at me before adding, "Pretty lady."
Smacking him upside the head again I get on behind him on his motorcycle as we speed away to school, I'm admittedly much more comfortable sitting on the bike than I was before and I doubt it has nothing to do with the fact that I have started to trust the driver a little more. In no time we're at school and as soon as I get off the bike, wolf whistles sound and a few girls compliment me, I see my boyfriend tense but not more so than when Trevor, a classmate of mine walks up to me,
"You look really hot Yrene." I thank him and he walks away without further ado thanks to my now brooding boyfriend who had proceeded to growl angrily at Trevor.
"So it wasn't only the egoistical bastard button then, but the territorial bastard button too."
"Can you blame me? He was totally flirting with you!"
"No, he was not! He just complimented me for fucks sake!"
I can tell from the way his face has fallen that he is actually disappointed in himself and so I accept his apology willingly,
"Baby, I'm so sorry, I don't know what got into me but I can't lose you. Not now, not after having gotten you after so long."
"What do you mean?" I was genuinely confused about why he liked me and the way he said 'so long' made it seem like he had liked me since a long time. The question was: since when?
"I'll tell you everything, I promise, starting today, with our first date."
"Okay. Bye then, I guess?" I push down my sunglasses and am about to leave when he grips my arm and pulls me into himself, kissing me fiercely, "Not without my goodbye kiss, you're not going anywhere, " and I too give him equal vigour with my response. I break away from the kiss, reluctantly as I can tell that he wants me to stay and I want to stay with him.
"Yr, I thought you hated PDA? Tsk tsk what a hypocrite!" Joss pretends to be horrified as he fist bumps Jason and shortly we are joined by my two other best friends.
"Nini, do you want to tell them or should I?" Jason questions, with his arm pulling me right into his side where I fit perfectly. My blush is the only response he needs before a beautiful, genuine smile spreads across his face and he excitedly turns to my friends,
"Guys, Katie, Joss, and Aelin, your little friend right here," he points to me and pecks my forehead, "and I are officially together, like this woman is my girlfriend! Finally!"
"I knew it!"
"I'm so happy for both of you!"
"Attaboy!"
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you my three best friends, Katie, Aelin and Joss, right in the order they have spoken in. Meaning the only normal one, is Aelin, Katie is an overexcited squirrel and Joss is, well, Joss. Each of them hug me in turn and I kiss Jason's cheek before waving a goodbye at him and walking into the stone castle.
Only one history class into the day I receive a text message from Jason,
** I miss you! **
** shut up! **
** I'm serious! **
** I'll see you in a few hours. Patience, chosen one! **
** I'd die ten times over to be chosen by you, sweetheart, ;) **
** bye! **
** :* **
"Someone's looking happy. May I know the cause behind that rare smile you have on display at this fine hour, sister?"
I groan at my English teacher's remark as I've been facing such observations about my happy demeanour since morning but I decide to tell him nevertheless as my excitement takes over,
"Well..."
"Tell me!"
"God, Bear! You're look an overexcited puppy sometimes, but, Jason and I, we're kind of together!" I see his face fall slightly but soon he gets over it and a delighted spark light up his eyes,
"I'm honestly so happy for you!"
We both squeal like five year olds before other students start to file in and I scoot over to my seat. The rest of the day goes by smoothly, even maths, admittedly it is quite different from before, no more stolen glances, no more subtle winks or secretive smiles. But I'm okay with it, the love I have said that I had locked away in a corner does nothing but stir a little but a few thoughts of Jason and what we're going to do after school are enough to quiet it down.
"You seem happy, Yrene."
"Good observation, Chase, I am extremely happy."
"Then I'm happy for you."
"I know you are." I hug him and take my leave, missing out on the heartbroken expression he wore on his face.
