T I MO T H É E
A loud thumping noise wakes me up.
I'm way too exhausted to deal with it so I try to close my eyes and fall back asleep but it continues nonetheless and the knocks get even louder. I groan in annoyance and wonder who the fuck has the audacity to knock on the door right now.
I give up trying to go back to sleep after the fifth loud thump, so I reach out for Ella but she isn't beside me, and the sheer realization that she isn't next to me on the bed causes me to shoot upwards so I'm no longer laying down. Her side of the bed is empty and I find that the bedroom door is wide open as well, instead of being closed like the last time I'd seen it. I'm immediately filled with worry.
Where is she?
I'm wide awake now. I leap off the bed, forgetting to put on some pants but remembering to wear a shirt at least. I walk out to the living room to find Aaron peaking through the window. He turns to look at me, concern all over his face.
'There's some random guy knocking on my door this early in the morning. I don't want to open it.' I walk up to the window near the door and when I take a peak I see that it's not just some random guy knocking on the door, it's Miles Moreno.
I don't waste a second before swinging the door open startling Aaron who has no clue who the person at his door is right now. And when Miles is finally in front of me and no door stands in between us, I grab ahold of his collar and shove him backwards so harshly that he almost falls over the balcony that was situated right in front of Aaron's apartment.
But sadly he doesn't lose balance and fall off. Instead he grabs ahold of the railing and steadies himself and I regret not shoving him harder. 'Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now.'
Miles doesn't look scared, only slightly startled by my flurry of anger. He looks me dead in the eyes as he speaks. 'Because I know where Ella is.' I let go of him as I start to picture the many scenarios that are running through my mind right now. She wasn't in her bed, she must not have slept all night long. Maybe he doesn't know where she is. Maybe she just went out for a walk to clear her mind. But if that's the case, then how would he know she was gone in the first place?
Nothing makes sense.
Aaron looks towards me. 'She wasn't with you?' He asks and I shake my head in defeat.
'She must have left when I fell asleep.' I explain and Aaron seems slightly disappointed with me. I don't blame him. I shouldn't have fallen asleep. She was distressed and worried about the money, about Miles. I let her down.
Aaron turns towards Miles now and he stares at him sternly. 'Where's my sister? What did you do to her?' Aaron asks and Miles chuckles in response.
'I didn't do shit to her you imbecile. She came to see me at the Coffee House this morning. I filled her in on what's been going on with me and Gina and why we took your money. And now she's headed to your dads place.'
Both me and Aaron are filled with nothing but confusion. 'My dad? Why would she go see my dad?' Aaron asks one of the many question that are racing through my mind.
'He hired me.' Miles states and I still can't comprehend what the hell he's going on about right now. 'He payed me to find out where you guys moved. That's why I was following her around. That's why Gina sought you out. We're specialists, it's our job to fulfill whatever our client needs and in this case instead of giving up your address we gave your money to your pops.'
'You're Miles?'
'Yes that's me.'
'And Gina is your sister.'
