T I M O T H É E
Our first stop on our mission to finding Miles the Moron Moreno was Ella and Sophia's shared dorm room.
Ella twisted her key in the hole and the moment she opened the door Sophia jumped at the sight of us both. It was weird, it wasn't like we both barged in on her. Ella's key made a lot of noise and so did the door as it creaked open, yet Sophia still wore a look of sheer terror once we entered her dorm room.
Her face relaxed however once she realized it was just us two and not sold scary intruder. 'Soph? Are you okay?' Ella asks concerned, whilst walking up to her roommate and immediately Sophia bobbed her head up and down to put Ella's mind at ease . She now wore a smile, that convinced me she was fine but judging by Ella's face I could tell Ella still wasn't convinced that her best friend was truly alright.
Sophia tried her best to reassure Ella though, because she started explaining herself desperately. 'Yeah I'm good. I've just been staying here for the past few days alone and I didn't expect you to be back so soon. I thought you said you were staying at your brothers place all week?'
Ella nods. 'I am. We just came to speak to you.' Sophia nods at that and Ella finally relaxes, letting her guard down and taking a seat beside her best friend on the bed.
I sit opposite them on what I assume is Ella's bed and I start to notice just how protective Ella is over Sophia. When I was in Cali it was something I was jealous of, because I missed how Ella used to want to protect me too. I missed how she used to care for me and me only and seeing Sophia in the picture made me feel quite uneasy. But that stopped being the case now that I know I'm still one of her top priorities.
I realize it's selfish of me, to crave her attention so much. To want her to give me the time of day. But I can't help my want to feel loved by her. It's something I've craved since we were children. Since her and Aaron would bicker in my bedroom all the time about who's turn it was to have the controller or who was going to ride next to me on the roller coaster at the carnival in town.
I've always wanted her to look at me, to acknowledge me as more than just her friend and now that I have that, I can't help but want to cherish everything we've built together. But I also love how caring she is with others, and I can tell by the way she places her hand gently over Sophia's that she cares a lot about her new friend. And it's something I won't envy anymore, because I've suddenly grown to admire it.
'We need your help Soph. It's about what happened last night.' Ella doesn't even have to specify what event from last night that she's referring to because understanding flashes all over Sophia's face.
'You're talking about Miles right? About the fight?' Sophia inquires and the both of us nod. 'What do you need me to do?' She asks and Ella doesn't skip a beat before replying to her.
'We need you to use your contacts. You know so many people on campus, you've made so many friends these past few months. At least one of them has to know where I can find this Miles guy. Or how I can contact him.' Sophia nods.
'Okay I'll text a few people. See what I can figure out. The person that hosted the party last night probably knows Miles if he was invited. But have you tried looking up his socials? He must have an Instagram or a Facebook.'
Ella shakes her head and that immediately surprises me because I didn't realize she looked him up on social media. A part of me wants to feel jealous but I hold that feeling back and focus on the situation at hand instead. 'I tried looking, but there's nothing. He's a ghost, which only makes the situation more dire '
As the two girls sit together peering down at Sophia's phone, I stood up and gave myself a short tour of Ella's dorm room. There wasn't much considering the room was so small but what I did find was meaningful and it said a lot about Ella and what she found most important in life.
