'I'm so pleased with how last night turned out' I thought to myself, a huge smile on my face as I got ready to head for work, and yes I'm late again.
Sofia had that affect on me. She was still sleeping, she looked so peaceful.

I gently woke her up and said "I've got work beautiful" as I headed upstairs.
I started to Turn the boat around.
A few minutes later she came over towards me and wrapped her arms around me a song came on the radio ' I Don't Wanna Live Forever' by Sia & Zayne. It almost felt like a movie being here with her and not having to hide her anymore,
'we just won't tell anyone she's 16!' I thought to myself. 'Or that we slept together when she was 15.. definitely not that part'

As I pulled up the boat she seamed uneasy.
"Are you alright sweetheart??"
Sofia looked at me "is she definitely gone?"
Ah, Dr Lance was on her mind. Of course she was on edge.
"yes sweetheart,don't worry about her now." I said as I anchored the boat.
Sofia just smiled briefly at me and then put her head down like she didn't believe me!

We both headed to the car, I dropped Sofia off home first before heading to work  myself
"see you soon baby!" I called out to her as she got out the car. I watched her walk up the steps. Making sure she got home okay. You don't know who's about these days do you!

I headed to the office in a very good mood, even Bekah wasn't gonna get me down today.
"morning Bekah, I mean cupcake" I said cheerfully,  knowing full well she didn't like me.
Bekha rolled her eyes.
"we've got a female named Penny Rogers age 25, multiple blows the head, no drugs in her system, no sign of sexual intercourse, seems like a random attack, what are we thinking?" she asked.

I ran to the nearest sink and threw up. Bekah didn't know what was going on. "Are you okay Jaxon?" She asked me.
I was in complete shock
"That's  my ex girlfriend" I replied, "I saw her last night... for all of 5 seconds and now she's dead"
Suddenly a crazy thought came into my head. 'Does Sofia have anything to do with this?' I was definitely being crazy. 'No, she couldn't have, she's not smart enough and she was with me the whole night.. we both have alibi's..'

While I was deep in thought in popped Ezra
"what do we have?"
I knew what was coming.
"Female victim. Aged 25 named Penny Rogers .." I said looking at him.
"Damn bro I'm so sorry, isn't that your ex?" Bekah was looking at us, Ezra remembered he had to be professional here. "Uhm any sign of sexual assault?" He added in a stern voice.
Bekah chimed in with "No sign of that or drugs in her system." She was looking straight at me.

I paused for a second and said
"she wasn't my girlfriend, we just hooked up." Feeling like I had to explain myself to Bekah, and then added "A couple of blows to the head wouldn't have killed her"
Ezra nodded "So this was definitely murder?"
Bekha looked at Ezra "It's not the strip club murderer, Annabelle has been charged, and it doesn't look like the copycats killers work either."
Ezra wrote down some notes "thanks guy" he said as he left the building.

'I'm so relieved that me and Sofia didn't commit this crime, and someone else is to blame.' I thought to myself 'But a couple of blows to the head would have knocked her unconscious, it wouldn't have killed her..' this one left me puzzled.

I went on my break and decided to give Sofia a ring, she answered fast.

Sofia; "hey how are you?"

Jaxon; "I'm good sweetheart, how are you?"

Sofia; "missing you like crazy can't stop thinking about last night.."

Jaxon; "I've got a lot on tonight, a murders come in and we're not sure how she died.. so not sure if I will see you tonight.."

Sofia; "oh no, male or Female"

She seemed interested in my job for once..

Jaxon; "do you remember that women that said hey to me last night?"

She went quiet for a minute.

Sofia; "yeah?"

Jaxon; "she's come in today In a body bag."

Sofia: Oh it wasn't me.."

What a strange comment to make..

Jaxon; "I know it wasn't you, we were together all night."

Sofia; "I've got to go I'll speak to you later"
she hangs up on me..

'That  was a weird conversation' I thought to myself.
I tried to give her a ring back but no answer.
I continued with my work on Penny, I looked her all over, no signs of struggle, no marks to her wrists or neck. I could see Bekah's eyes all over my from across the table. 'The fuck is she looking at' I thought.
"something bothering you" I asked her.
Bekah watched me "where were you last night?" She asked.
I thought 'you rude bitch, not like it's any of your business, what does she think she is? A fucking detective?'
"I was with my girlfriend.. where were you?" I raised my eyes at her.
Bekah smirked at me. "lets hope this girlfriend doesn't end in the morgue." She replied.

I wanted to grab her a squeeze the life out of her stupid pathetic neck!
It was way too soon to be making them kind of jokes. This woman was sick. I just ignored her and carried out my work.
I'm guessing she was killed by someone that's smart like me, she died suddenly, like someone drugged her with plant food. Something that wouldn't show up in her blood..
I started to feel so worried that Sofia could have had something to do with this, I just didn't think she was smart enough. I'm not going to put the blame on her, at least not until I know more.

It was way past 8pm, I couldn't believe it, I had been here all day. I barely knew Penny but she was a lovely girl and didn't deserve this at all.
I packed up and locked the office before I headed to the Chinese to pick my food up.
It was way too late to cook now, and she hadn't messaged me at all today, that was very unusual.

I picked up my Chinese and headed to her house, I walked up her steps and knocked the door. She answered straight away,
"sorry it's late I thought you would want to share a Chinese with me?" I said to her smiling.
"I've already eaten" she replied.
"want to come to mine? We could chill and have a few drinks?"
She looked unsure "sure I'll get my coat." She didn't seem right, something wasn't adding up, we headed back to my car.

In the car it was quite, she didn't say much. I leaned over and grabbed her hand and put it on my leg, she smiled.
we pulled up at my house, I went around to open her door but she already opened it and headed towards my house door.
