Chapter 4

Sophie's POV

Sophie didn't want to tell Tiergan her new goal so she decided to go for a quick subject change.

"What did you want to know about Keefe?" Sophie asked.

"I need you to talk to Glimmer because I have a theory that she knows how to save Keefe." Tiergan explained, "I can't talk to her because I am pretty busy so I was wondering if you could do it."

"I can start on figuring out the mystery of Breeze with Glimmer," Sophie thought.

"Sure,"

"Thank you. You should go. I can tell you are very busy with Team Valiant."

"Yeah but I will try to find Glimmer in between. You know I am good at multitasking," Sophie stated.

Sophie turned to leave before turning back to face Tiergan.

"Thanks for trusting me,"

"Anytime Sophie, anytime," Tiergan called back as Sophie stepped into the hall.

Sophie turned right when she was at the fork in the hall. She ran forward turning left before crashing into Linh.

"Sorry," Sophie apologized.

"It's ok. I can lead you out of here," Linh said getting up and rubbing her head. "How did it go with the meeting?"

"Honestly I don't know. He told me to find Glimmer and talk to her about Keefe,"

"But that's not the only thing he told you. You were in there way to long just for a 'Find Glimmer' command,"

Sophie had to admit that was very suspicious. So she found herself pouring through everything that happened. She gave her all the details and how she was now planning to have a meeting with everyone.

"I can tell everyone else to meet you at Havenfield if you want, and I can tell them the story you just told me," Linh suggested.

"Really?" Sophie asked.

"Of course,"

"Thanks,"

They were at the two doors now and Linh opened the doors. Sophie stepped outside to hear sweet music coming from a grove of trees.

"Are you ready to go home Miss Foster?" Sandor asked, melting out of the shadows.

When Sophie nodded Sandor hollered for Bo and Flori.

Sophie grabbed Sandor's hand and he held onto Bo, and Flori completed the circle. Sophie held out her home crystal and looked back at Linh. Linh nodded and Sophie nodded back. Sophie and her bodyguards stepped into the light and leaped back to Havenfield.

Once Sophie had arrived at Havenfield her bodyguards went to their usual posts by her bedroom. Edlaine smiled once she had entered the kitchen.

"I made custard bursts!" Edaline said, holding out a plate with custard bursts along with some water.

"Thanks, Mom," Sophie smiled.

Sophie went up to her room and Sandor, Bo, and Flori did their search. When they gave the all clear she sat down and ate all of the custard bursts and drank all the water. She went over to Iggy's cage and tossed him the last one. He rewarded her with a ground shaking burp. Sophie coughed and then sighed. Sophie reached through the bars of the cage and scratched his little head when a knock came from the door. She opened the door to find Fitz, Biana, Dex, Tam, Linh, Wylie, Marella, Maruca, and Stina standing there. Sophie smiled and welcomed them in.

"So did Linh tell you what happened?" Sophie asked all of her friends.

"Yeah," Wylie answered. "I can't believe he hid that from me. But don't worry I won't tell anyone."

"Thanks," Sophie said, "So does anyone have questions?"

"Not really," Stina admitted. Everyone agreed.

"Well here is the plan. We figure out what Glimmer knows about Keefe and Tiergan. If she doesn't have any leads we ask Oralie to unlock her cache for us and if she can't find anything we'll have to take a risk and ask the Black Swan. Then we report back here if we find anything," Sophie explained.

"Well I'm game," Fitz agreed.

Sophie's cheeks flushed and her heart did the all too familiar flutter.

Everyone else nodded and left except for Fitz.

"Sophie...I just want to say. I really like you but with the whole matchmaking thing I can't do it."

"Unless you want to be a bad match," Sophie suggested.

Fitz smiled, "Maybe. Plus you told the Council what to change. Maybe you can change matchmaking."

"Ha! I could try," Sophie laughed.

Fitz started to walk toward Sophie and he was closer than he needed to be.

"Sophie, there are too many secrets with us. Can't you trust me with them?"

Sophie swallowed but found herself saying, "I don't know,"

"Please just promise,"

"...o-ok,"

Fitz smiled.

"What are you doing!" Grady asked.

They both whipped around to find Grady standing in front of the door. Sophie gave a death glare to Sandor who was looking at her with a smile. Sophie turned her attention back to Grady.

"That's my cue," Fitz said, pulling out his home crystal and backing away. "Trust me."

When he left Grady went downstairs towards the kitchen mumbling about 'wanting Dex instead' Sophie rolled her eyes and called for Sandor, Bo, and Flori. When they joined her she marched up towards the fourth floor.

"Where are we going?" Sandor demanded.

"I am going to check on Keefe," Sophie answered, stepping into the Leap Master 500.
