Chapter 6

Sophie POV

"Can you please tell me about Breeze?" It was the only question she could say. She was dropping Keefe's stuff in the I-will-figure-it-out-as-I-go box.

"The place where she is being held has a lot of security. So we need to meet face-to-face. Bring your friends to the Wanderling woods tomorrow at noon sharp," Glimmer said blinking away.

Sandor opened the door to her room,"Just so you know I am not onboard with this plan, but if it helps Keefe I'll go where you go."

"Umm...sure,"

Sandor closed the door and Sophie could hear him having a conversation with Bo and Flori. Sophie looked at her imparter and whispered, "Fitz Vacker," Fitz's face popped up on the tiny screen.

"What do you need Sophie?" Fitz asked.

"Glimmer wants to meet at the Wanderling Forest tomorrow at noon. Can you send the message to Biana, Dex, Tam, Linh, Wylie, Marella, Maruca, and Stina?"

"Sure, but why aren't you doing it?" Fitz asked.

"I think I need to tell Mr. Forkle. We need all the help we can get, but I'll tell him not to tell Tiergan just in case this is a trick," Sophie answered.

Fitz nodded and clicked away. Sophie looked at her imparter again before she whispered, "Mr.Forkle"

"I can't believe he told you this," Mr. Forkle's wheezy voice said as he ran a pudgy hand across his face. He was pacing in between her flower carpet and had left an indent from his pacing.

"I know I'm sorry. I just had to listen and now we can fix the problem, so I don't really feel that guilty about it," Sophie told him.

Mr. Forkle muttered something that started with his two favorite words 'you kids'. Sophie's heart loved those words. They were the only thing reminding her about her old human life.

"I guess you're right," Mr. Forkle sighed. "Report what you find with Glimmer back to me. I want to fix this problem too."

Sophie smiled, "And here I thought this was going to be another big argument."

Mr. Forkle muttered another sentence that started with 'you kids' before he pulled out a crystal and said, "No Miss Foster I won't be arguing with things like this again. I have learned my lesson that these arguments are rarely helpful." I won't tell anyone about this unless I have to. Mr. Forkle transmitted before he leaped away.

Ok I told them. Fitz transmitted, scaring Sophie so bad she almost shrieked. Sorry I didn't mean to scare you, but this is so cool. I am getting used to doing this without using too much energy.

Sophie reminded herself that Fitz could hear her thoughts.

It's ok. I was going to check on you anyways.

Yeah suuuuuuuuuure. Have you gotten any information on healing Keefe?

No. But I should have. I am being such a terrible friend not focusing on him.

Hey don't beat yourself up Sophie. You know that you're the most awesome elf ever. Your expectations are just way too high. Just settle down and think of the positive.

Like what?

Well I think of you whenever I feel down.

Wow really?

Of course like I said you're the most awesome elf ever. I sometimes wish I could hold up with all that pressure like you do. You look so calm and not worried about things that I am worrying about.

HA! The truth is I am always panicking on the inside. I just put on a straight face so you guys won't feel as worried as I do.

Now I am the one learning things.

I guess so. Thank you Fitz for those words. They were very nice.

Your welcome.

Fitz severed the connection leaving Sophie alone.

"It's been a long day. Why don't you have dinner?" Edaline asked from Sophie's doorway making Sophie whip around and face her. Edaline snapped her fingers and a bowl of yellow slop with some red berries that looked like gumdrops appeared. Elvin food may not look good but it tasted great. Sophie happily grabbed a spoonful of the yellow gloop and ate it. It tasted like the juiciest steak ever and the red gumdrop shaped berries tasted like a smooth layer of BBQ sauce.

"Do you like it? It's Mashed Sunet Root," Edaline asked.

"Thanks it tastes great. What are these red gumdrop looking berries?"

Edaline laughed," I don't know what gumdrops are but the berry is called a Rosela berry."

Sophie took another mouthful of the delicious tasting goop and ate another berry.

"I should probably give you some time to rest it's almost sunset,"

"SUNSET!?" Sophie asked, snapping her fingers to open the shades. And sure enough there was the sun and it was setting. Sophie ate the rest of her meal and Edaline snapped her figures making the tray disappear.

"Goodnight," Edaline said, snapping her fingers again to make the shades lower.

Sophie got into the shower and changed into her clothes for tomorrow because she knew tomorrow was going to be a hectic day. Edaline was waiting for her when Sophie slipped into bed.

"Is there anything you want to tell me?" Edaline asked.

Sophie thought for a moment then told Edaline all about the meeting.

Edaline smiled and kissed her on the cheek. "You go through too much Sophie. In the meantime you should get some sleep. Goodnight."

"I love you to mom,"

"I love you too,"

After Edaline left her room Sophie smiled and fell asleep.

Sophie woke up the next morning to shrieking downstairs. Sophie got out of bed, brushed her teeth and she combed her hair. Sophie then fastened her cape with the Ruewen crest pin and opened the door to find that Sandor and Bo weren't there. Flori stood there alone watching whatever conversation was raging on downstairs.

"Where is everyone?" Sophie asked.

Flori smiled and answered back, "Someone named Tinker, Dex, and Squall came over. Sandor and Bo are talking to them.

"Oh No! Tinker hates goblins," Sophie wailed as she headed downstairs to face whatever mess Sandor and Bo had caused.
