Chapter 18

Sophie's POV

Once Domhain agreed to lift the curse Breeze had leaped everyone in their human clothes to a base that she had made.

"Welcome to Die Fischkuppel," Breeze said.

"The Fish Dome," Sophie translated while looking around.

The base looked like her research lab except it was bigger with loads more doors lining the corridor.

"It's a pleasure to see you again Mr. Domhain," Mr. Forkle said, walking towards them.

"I thought you said no one knew about this. Forkle shouldn't either," Domhain grumbled.

Sophie wondered what happened between Mr. Forkle and Domhain, but she knew that this wasn't the right time to ask questions.

"I said the Black Swan would know about this. Also would it kill you to work with him again. I know you don't have the best relationship but this is war," Breeze corrected.

Domhain rolled his eyes before saying,"Fine!"

"Great, we are off to a spectacular start, now lead the way Forkle," Breeze said with a smile.

Mr. Forkle turned around and led them down the hall. Now that Sophie was closer to the doors she could see that they were made out of metal with a square hole covered in bars.

"Why are there so many doors?" Wylie asked.

"I made this place to hold prisoners or if the Black Swan did an experiment they could come here to the indestructible cells," Breeze explained.

"You really think you would hold that many prisoners?" Sophie asked.

Breeze shrugged, "You never really know."

"Also how are they indestructible?" Dex asked.

"I put a spell on the doors and in the prison cells,"

"More like a curse," Domhain pointed out.

"Well it matters from the perspective," Breeze countered.

Domhain rolled his eyes and muttered an impressive string of curses. For payback Breeze splashed him with a small geyser of water. Domhain turned to face Breeze and made a small piece of earth rise out of the ground. He shaped it into a little ball and threw it at Breeze. She narrowed her eyes and the little ball turned to dust.

"I see those years in prison haven't damaged your power," Domhain commented.

"It has just made me stronger," Breeze agreed.

"Why does Domhain know that you were in prison?" Tiergan chimed in.

"Because Domhain has a knack for knowing a lot,"

"How?" Stina butted in.

"He just does. It's like Banshee with her outfit she just wears it and I don't question it,"

"Who's Banshee and what do you mean by her outfit?" Sophie had to ask.

"She is a powerful Vociferator that I found and her outfit is pretty cool. Tinker designed it. Maybe you'll meet her one day," Breeze told her.

Mr. Forkle stopped and brought a key out of his pocket. He put it in the keyhole and the door made a soft click before it opened.

"Let's hope you don't meet Banshee. You can get on her bad side easily," Mr. Forkle told them, pushing the door open wider.

"I met her once and it was not exactly thrilling," Jolie whispered to Sophie.

Inside was a room covered in lush grass and at the front of the room was another room with glass lining the front wall.

"Mr. Timkin Heks, Mr. Kesler Diznee, and Mr. Jurek Tiere will be in here while we study in the room back there," Mr. Forkle explained.

Timkin, Kesler, Jurek, and Domhain stayed in the greenish room while Sophie, Jolie, Fitz, Biana, Dex, Tam, Linh, Wylie, Stina, Mr. Forkle, Tiergan, Breeze, Wraith, and Blur went inside the other room. Everyone made a line at the front of the glass. Sophie had some questions so she silently scooched over to Breeze.

"Breeze can I ask you a question?" Sophie whispered.

"Sure, anything for my savior," Breeze whispered back, in mock admiration.

"Why is Domhain so mad about Keefe being an Absorber?"

"Well...when the Absorber was unleashed into the world, she destroyed a lot of things. She kinda murdered Domhain's wife, son, and daughter,"

"WHAT!?" Sophie whispered-hissed.

"Yeah that was what I thought your reaction would be. It's the hard truth and Domhain had to live with it. If there is anything I've learned is that the truth is rarely what we expect and it's cold. Just like reality and this whole world,"

"I guess you're right," Sophie admitted, confused at how wise Breeze was.

"Shhh. Domhain is starting the spell," Stina shouted.

Everyone went quiet and stared at Domhain. His mouth moved but no words came out as he moved with swift graceful steps. His hands glowed and he let the glowing energy out of his hands. It flowed through the air and wrapped around Jurek, Kesler, and Timkin.

"Now" Domhain said as he finished, "I would like all of you to use your ability and then slam your hand into the ground."

Jurek went first, reaching out his fingers, trees and flowers grew around him and as suddenly as a clap of lightning he slammed down his hands and all the trees and flowers disappeared. Kesler went second, stretching out his fingers, and dirt rose up and spelled out the words BIOKINETIC. Then flowers sprouted from the word he had spelled out and with a slam of his fingers the words melted back into the earth. Timkin gulped and stepped forward. He called upon the earth and a huge statue of himself rose out of the ground. It had only been ten seconds when Timkin lost his hold and the statues fell down into a pile at his feet.

"Well done! You show a lot of power but we will need to work on your control," Domhain praised them.

Breeze walked out of the door and into the lush meadow. Everyone filed out after her. Sophie wondered why they stayed in that room when they could have been standing on the grass. It wasn't like anything dangerous happened during the whole magic spell thingy.

"I hope you would be willing to stay and teach them?" Breeze asked Domhain.

"Hmm, it would be nice to finally train with some more Biokinetics," Domhain agreed.

"Then it's decided Mr. Domhain will train with Mr. Timkin Heks, Mr. Kesler Diznee, and Mr. Jurek Tiere," Mr. Forkle announced.

"Wait how long will this training take? I have to babysit the triplets," Kesler complained.

"Don't worry Juline and I have discussed that already. I will watch over them for now," Breeze chimed in with a smirk.

"Ok, but they are quite the handful,"

"That is the biggest understatement of the century," Dex added.

"I have a way with kids," Breeze said.

"I swear she brainwashes them," Tiergan said.

After that everyone said their goodbyes and leaped away. Sophie caught one last glimpse of Dex and Breeze jumping into the beam of light as Sophie glittered away.
