I began work on the 2 Sensory Activity Panels. Originally, I was planning to make one large unit and attach it to the wall of the Therapy Play Unit, but I have revised my plan to make 2 units that are mobile that can be borrowed by families for therapy at home and returned to GiGi's. Interactive panels are a great way for kids to receive sensory input and work on motor skills. One unit will focus on older children and one will focus on younger children.I obtained most of the materials I needed for the board from the Lifecycle Building Center (LBC) such as boards, buttons, switches, doorbell, doorhandles, etc. with the grant money that I applied for. I needed some equipment to prepare the boards for painting so I contacted Mr. Johnston, who is a construction supervisor, who let me borrow his wood sanding supplies. I prepared the boards and arranged all of the sensory items on the boards and met with my project advisor who gave me guidance on placement of the items.
Thank you to LBC, Mr. Johnston and Ms. Shepherd for helping me put together this part of my project.
