I applied for and received a grant for $100 from the Lifecycle Building Center (LBC) to obtain materials for the sensory panel that will be attached to the Therapy Play Unit. LBC is a non-profit organization that captures building materials from the waste stream and directs them back into the community through reuse. I found out about the LBC in my Girl Scout interview with Vena. As a part of my grant, I will have to follow back up with LBC in 6 months to give a progress report on how the materials were used. The sensory panel will be used by the kids to work on their motor skills. My advisor Ms. Shepherd helped me to figure out the items I needed for the panel. At the warehouse, I was able to obtain items such as knobs, buttons, locks, hinges, wheels, switches, latches and pieces of wood to make the backing for board. The kids can improve their motor skills by working with items like these!
