Kageyama sighed for the fifth time today, his volleyball being held strongly between his palms. He didn't like this feeling, no he didn't. It was sad, and almost lonely.
Normally, he was used to it—being that he often came off as scary, people didn't want to get familiar with him. But, today was different. Ushiwaka stated that his he began to see colors last Tuesday when he crossed paths with a woman named Ama.
He felt left out being the only team member on the Schweiden Adlers that hadn't met his soulmate yet. His world was still in black and white.
He reminisced back to high school where gradually, each of Karasuno's members would start seeing color. Even Hinata Boke saw colors on the last day of his 3rd year.
A girl named Lisa had tripped over him while she was running late for the art department. That was when Hinata and her met. Tobio wanted someone, too. And even though his world was volleyball, when would he find a soulmate?
When would he find a universe to share his world with?
It almost pissed him off that he hadn't found the one yet, and there was no way he could be one of the unfortunate, rare souls of this earth that weren't matched with a soulmate.
Right?
He threw the volleyball into his basket and walked outside of his home. It seemed to be a lovely, sunny day, but he wouldn't know. All he sees is black and white.
He could feel the warmth of the sun however, and when the wind blew his hair would get disheveled. But now that he thinks about it, the first thing he decided he would look at is his hair color.
All his life he's never known what it was, so when his soulmate comes by, he was sure to get a good look at his hair. He's always been a simple person, so his best guess was brown—a hair color every child is taught in school to be highly common among Japanese people.
He checked his wrist watch. Crap, I'm a couple minutes late. Kana is gonna be angry.' He thought, turning his walk into a fast jog.
There was this drink place he went to everyday, and Kana, the manager, would always prepare him a special milk that made him forget his day's worries. The only problem being Kana is extremely particular about being punctual.
On most days, Tobio was early, but this morning he was side tracked with all his over thinking about soulmates and whatnot. He opened the door to The Tea Pot and went inside.
He'd hoped Kana would forgive him about being late because today was a day he REALLY needed to get loose, especially since it's his day off. His turn was next in line, but he didn't hear Kana's normal, boisterous laughter.
It was a higher pitched, louder laughter that sounded similar to hers coming from the back room. Who he had presumed was a girl, walked outside while talking to an old woman. The girl had black hair and grey skin with white highlights, much to his disappointment.
" Okay, Obaa-chan, have fun time at the funeral then!" She chuckled a bit before she realized how that sounded to everyone else. She waved her hand frantically in front of Kageyama.
" O-Oh wait, it's not as bad as you think! Just a, uhm, inside joke we have together!"
Kageyama couldn't care less about how it sounded. He was really centered on how familiar this girl looked. Just like Kana, she had ( eye shape) eyes, ( thin/thick/medium) lips, and a (flat/bridged) nose.
" Are you related to Kana?" He asked her blankly. She looked a little taken aback.
" How do you know my mother?"
Glad he was correct, he decided to continue the conversation. " She makes me milk drinks, and then yells at me whenever I'm late. I come here pretty often."
" Oh! You're that daily costumer she always talks about!"
His lips formed into a tiny pout. " She talks about me? What does she say?"
She looked behind him to make sure a line wasn't building up, and leaned on the counter a bit to get comfortable. " Well, she says she's never met anyone as milk obsessed as you. She thinks your hair's pretty cool, too. She say it's a really foreign color."
Kageyama forgot that since Kana was married, and had a kid apparently, she could see color. Damn it, why did he just ask her what color his hair was?
" What color does she say it is?"
" Oh, you haven't met your soulmate yet? Ahaha, me neither, but she says it's like a deep blue color. I'd love to see that."
The girl sighed and suddenly, there was a terrible awkward silence.
" So. You wanna order? Mom's out today for shopping, so lucky you that she isn't gonna yell." She laughed softly and he felt a tiny pang in his chest.
" Just a cup of milk then."
He was slightly bummed that he wouldn't get the special milk drink Kana always makes for him, but he guessed that WAS better than getting yelled at.
" One cup of milk coming right up!" She smiled as she rang him up.
" Since you know my mom," She started again with a distinct smile that made her eyes sparkle in the dull world he lived in, " we'll probably see each other more often. I'm Y/n."
He took her hand and shook it, staring into her eyes. " I'm Kageyama Tobio."
She smiled even brighter than before. " Nice to meet you Kageyama. And you know, you look pretty good in yellow!"
"...I do..?"
" You do?" Her eyes were wide and her smile faded as she realized what she'd just said. Her eyes shifted left and right hastily, taking in every color she saw. Why was she seeing color all of a sudden?
It confused her greatly. The walls, they were painted coffee brown, the floor was a light grey, and the counter was brown marble. There was a tan woman sitting the corner sipping from her red coffee cup, and a dark brown man had just left the men's bathroom.
As she looked outside, she wanted to scream. Seeing hundreds of people of hundreds of shades walking past like it was an everyday thing was surprising.
She was scanning the area, until she was left with Kageyama. He had blueberry hued hair and his eyes matched that color, his skin was soft white, and he had black eyelashes that contrasted his hair. He was staring at you with his mouth agape.
H/c hair, s/c skin, and red cheeks...' was all he cold think about, similar to her. He wondered why he hadn't seen these colors until the two had formally met each other.
Her e/c eyes softened as she accepted the fact that, even if it was a little late, he was her soulmate now and forever. She was quite pleased with it as well, he was certainly a looker.
" I guess, " she went around the counter and grabbed his hand with a grin, " that makes me yours."
He wanted to call her a boke, but all he could answer with was a nod. He'd finally done it. He found her, the girl he was going to spend his life with.
He found his universe to share his world with.
