TRENT

It wasn't until Tuesday morning that I was able to get in contact with Officer Hunt. So many things have happened since Monday morning. Not forgetting the attack on the president of SVNC, who has a son who is a suspect in a murder case.

First I had to confirm that Vixen's cause of death was asphyxia. It looked like she was drowned. A common trait in a Phantom murder case.

The Phantom usually physical abuses his victims, drowns them in a tub, and then he bathes them to make sure he leaves no trace on their bodies. We've never gotten anything on him. At least not until now.

I knocked on Officer Hunt's door. "Come in," he said. I walked up to his desk. He was busily writing something.
"I have some updates for you on the Vixen Kent case."

"Well, what did you find?" Officer Hunt asked without looking up from his book.

"I found a small skin sample in the victim's pocket," I began. "It belongs to a man named Rick Ripley."

Officer Hunt eyes shot up to mine. "What?"
"I said I think I found the identity of The Phantom," I told him.

Hunt folded up his paperwork and told me to sit down. "Let me see that," he said. He took the papers and started going through them as I explained their content.

"You see, the victim had the skin in her pockets. Maybe it got there when she scratched him or something, since her bruises indicate fighting," I said slowly.
He was still staring at the test results I gave him.

"The man it belongs to, Rick Ripley, was admitted to a mental facility in the next state. He escaped six years ago, and neither the staff nor the police have found him. He is believed to be dead," I finished.

"Well obviously, he's not, because his fresh DNA is on a body of a girl who recently died," Officer Hunt concluded.

"Yes that's what I thought too. But according to his record, this guy has some serious issues. And he's good at hiding if he hasn't been found for six years."

"We'll find him," Hunt assured me. "Right now I need you to do some work in the evidence room. It seems someone tempered with the tapes for this case. None of them are working!" Officer Hunt cried, throwing his hands in the air.

"Don't worry boss, I'll get right to it," I said. I got up to leave.
"Hey Trent," Officer Hunt called.
"Yes sir?"
"Good job. Keep it up," he said with a small smile and a nod.
"Yes I will sir, thanks."

LYNN

Today everyone was talking about how Luke's house was attacked. It was so bad he didn't even come to school today. I was worried about him, but at least all this talk about the robbery made people forget about the Vixen thing.

Erin and I both came to school with our bodyguards today. After what happened to Luke, my parents didn't want to leave anything to chance. I couldn't blame them.

I decided to visit Luke tomorrow after my parents calm down. He's proven that he's sorry enough for what happened.

It was fifth period and I was on my way to class when I ran into Jenna again.

"Lynn?"
"Yes, what do you want?"
"I'll do it," she blurted.
"Do what?" I asked, confused. She took a deep breath.
"I'll admit to the whole school that I lied about Vixen."

At first I thought she was joking. But she the resolve on her face didn't look fake. "You're serious?"
"Yeah, I think I owe her that," she admitted.
"And your reputation?"
"It's not worth this guilt I'm feeling," she mumbled. "And I think people won't care much now she's dead. Anyway I've got a class. Bye!"
