JENNA

I woke up with pains all over my body. I was sore all over, and I really didn't want to wake up. But it was a school day, and I had to make sure that Bryce doesn't suspect a thing.

I cut off the slightly burnt parts of my hair and pulled my hair into a tight bun to hide the cuts.

I went downstairs to eat breakfast.

"Hey little sis," Bryce greeted when he saw me. He served me some pancakes and bacon.
I wolfed down the whole thing. I was so tired yesterday that I didn't realized how much I was starving.

"Whoa! Aren't you the hungry one today!" Bryce noted.
"I skipped lunch and dinner yesterday," I said quickly, trying not to arouse his suspicion.

"Well don't skip today or else there be no pancakes left by tomorrow!"
"Okay," I answered him.

After breakfast we got in the car and he dropped me off at school.

Luke was standing in the parking lot waiting for me.

"Did he notice you were gone?" he asked. "Nope!" I replied excitedly.
We walked to our Spanish class together.
"Calla wants us to meet at her house after school," Luke told me.
"Good."
"Hey, Luke."
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for making me jump last night," I said.

"Don't mention it," he said. "I probably wouldn't have made it out if you didn't save me anyways."

"You're right about that," I said proudly.
"You know what," Luke began, "I'm beginning to think you're not do bad after all."

I smiled at him, and he smiled back.

THE PHANTOM

I turned on the news first thing in the morning. Sylvan Valley was such a boring town, and I knew that a fire that huge would be a headline.

It was the first story they talked about.

"BREAKING NEWS: A fire broke out at a home in the lower parts of Sylvan Valley late last night. The house is believed to be the old residence and hideout of the Phantom. Firefighters on the scene believe it was intentionally burned down by the above to erase all evidence against him in an ongoing case–"

"I don't care about that," I said to myself, "what about the casualties!"

"No bodies were found in the rubble, and neighbours say no one has lived in the house for years. We bring you live pictures from the scene–"

"Arrrhg!" I threw my arms in the air. How did those delinquents escape! I made sure they were surrounded in flames!

I was still having a fit when I heard a knock on the door.
Who could that be? It was six thirty in the morning.
I looked through the peephole. It was that weird girl Calla. How does she know where I live?

I opened the door. "How may I help you, Miss Newman?"
"Can I come in?" she asked politely. I didn't want to, but I let her in anyway. She sat down on my couch.

"You've heard about the fire at the hideout?"
"Yes," I told her.
"Do you think the Phantom did it?"
"Yes, I suspect so."
"Why are you lying to me Rick?"

I looked at her in shock. How did she know my real name?

"I know who you are, Rick. You told me you cared about finding Vixen's killer, but you tried to kill me last night! I told you everything that I knew, how could you do this to me?"

"I don't know what you're talking about!" I fired back at her.

"You're the Phantom, Rick! You knew I would find out if I went to the hideout so you tried to burn me to death!"
