Chapter 40

LYNN

We all screamed at the sound of the shot.
The Phantom stood over Erin, frozen in his place.

"The only one we're saying goodbye to is you."

Vixen appeared a few feet behind the Phantom with a gun in her hands.

VIXEN

The Phantom touched his stomach with his finger. It came back covered in blood.

He turned around to face me.
"You wretched witch!" He screeched.
I was surprised he still had enough strength to stagger towards me.

I just kept shooting at him, and he kept going getting closer to me with every step. It was like he was indestructible.

He lifted up his gun, and pointed it at my head.
"You'll die today," he said, breathing heavily.
"Not before you do," I retorted.

Two shots were fired.

The Phantom fell dead on the ground with my bullet in his head.

And I crumbled to the ground, clutching the place where his bullet hit my left shoulder.

"VIXEN!" My family and friends yelled in panic.
All of them rushed to my side. Luke got there first.

I was bleeding badly, but I was still conscious enough to hear him.
"Vixen please hold on," Luke cried.
"The ambulance is on the way."

I heard police sirens ringing all around me. Trent came round to the back first.
"What happened?" He asked. But he didn't need us to answer him.
He just looked at the dead man on the ground and figured it out.

I heard Kaitlynn scolding him. "It's about time you showed up," she said.

I started to shiver.
Luke noticed I was cold. He pulled me closer to his body to give me warmth.
"Luke," I said I a voice that was almost a whisper.
"I'm right here, Vix."

I started to feel delirious.
Everyone's panicked voices started sounding farther and farther away.
"Vixen don't leave me again," I heard Luke say.
"Be strong Vixen," Katy said.

I tried to be strong. I didn't want to leave again.
But there was so much lost blood and not enough strength left in me.

"Be strong, Vixen."
I blacked out, Katy's words ringing in the darkness that I just kept falling deeper and deeper into.
