Chapter 33
"I'm so sick of this hospital, Sien." Tina sighed heavily.
It's Sunday and I don't have classes, aside from the many chapters of my books I still need to skim. Tina wanted to meet so here we are. Nasa isang coffee shop kami malapit sa condo, I invited her to the condo pero dito na lang daw.
"How many months do you still have to work there?" I asked.
"More than a year pa. Maayos naman 'yong mga kasama ko sa trabaho pero 'yong sistema lang at 'yong mga nasa taas ang problema." She puffed a breath.
Since Tina is working in the laboratory, she has an eye for errors and inequality. May mga VIP tests daw nas mas pinapauna na sa kanila kaysa sa mga tests para sa normal na tao lang. She specified some government officials and business people. Malaki kasi ang hospital na pinagtatrabahuan niya.
"And your Chief Medtech is the one giving orders?" Ngumuso ako.
Tumango siya at bumuntong hininga. She looks so stressed. Kanina pa siya nagra-rant sa akin. I can't help but smile inwardly, not because I'm enjoying her stressed face but because I know that something big will blow her up.
Nextweek, Camden will propose. I still don't know the exact date because he said he's still finalizing everything.
"I'm so stressed," she sighed.
"Yeah, I can see that." I smiled at her.
She glared at me and massaged her neck. Kinamusta niya ang pag-aaral ko at tinanong kung kamusta si Kean. They've seen each other already. Matagal na. I tried inviting her again to my condo so she can rest first pero may gagawin pa raw siya kaya naman hinayaan ko na.
I was surprised when Camden called me the same day to tell me that the plan changed. Nasabihan ko kasi siya na wala kaming pasok ng Tuesday hanggang Wednesday dahil may school activity.
"Batangas?" Kumunot ang noo ko.
"I called to ask if it's okay, para kung hindi, let's go proceed to the original plan."
The original plan was just to go to a resort in Laguna and now it's Batangas. Walang problema sa akin. But when he told me that he also changed some part of the plans, I was worried because we only have one day left.
"Can we meet up so we can talk about this properly?" I initiated.
"Okay, are you free at 7 PM? Tatawagan ko si Nicus."
"Sure." I replied.
Wala akong ginawa kundi magbasa buong maghapon. During my break, I called Tita and Tito to ask how they have been. Pagkatapos ng tawag ay muli akong nagbasa at nang makitang alas singko na ay tumigil na ako.
I received a message from Camden that Nicus won't be able to join us because he has family matters to attend. I am expecting... already that Axev might be with Camden kaya naman nang makita ko silang dalawa sa loob ng cafe ay napahugot ako ng malalim na hininga.
Camden suggested that we should meet at a cafe near the condo para hindi na ako mahirapan. Malalim ang paghinga ko habang naglalakad palapit sa kanila. Axev is facing his laptop and he looks so serious. Naka-casual lang din ito ng damit.
"Hi," ngumiti ako kay Camden.
Nag-angat ng tingin si Axev at nagkatinginan kami. I gritted my teeth and folded my lips.
"Hi..." I smiled a little at him.
His jaw only clenched and he went back to what he's doing on his laptop. Napakurap ako at napahugot muli ng malalim na hininga. Tumikhim si Camden at tiningnan si Axev bago ako pina-upo sa harap nila.
