CHAPTER NINETEEN

"So, what are you saying?" I asked on the phone. I was sitting on a tree branch at the back of the dorm, looking over the field where the Neji Hyuga was running with the club while Hinata was chatting with Sakura by the bench.

"There's a huge possibility that Hinata Hyuga is not the target," Sasori answered.

I could hear the sound of the keyboard on the other side. The noise of the busy office in the background was making me miss it all the more. But the information I just received was so big I had no idea how to react. So, after a few minutes of silence from my side—Sasori sighed and continued.

"Hinata Hyuga is indeed the heiress. But—publicly, the Hyugas have announced it would be that cousin of hers, Neji Hyuga,"

"So, automatically, enemies of theirs would target her cousin. But seeing as her father asked you to protect her—we still can't ignore her," Konan added.

"Hmmhmm," I replied.

"So, we decided you need help with two people to protect," Pein continued.

"What!?" I exclaimed, jumping to my feet in shock. "No. No. No. No! This is my mission! I don't need help! What? You don't believe me?" I asked, very much pissed.

I heard simultaneous sighed from the other side of the phone as Itachi answered me. "No one thinks that Tenten. Deidara and the others can vouch how scary you can be,"

And then I heard Dei, Hidan, and Kisame's voices agreeing with his statement and I couldn't help but laugh. With a sigh, I agreed. Well, at least they knew I could do it on my own. But a little help really won't be too bad. At least, I don't have to be at two places at once.

I wouldn't always be so lucky to have those two people in one place.

"So? Who are you sending? I doubt you old people can pass as a student," I replied and instantly heard a screeched of denial from a very offended Konan.

"We're sending in Hidan as a teacher," Pein answered.

"Yooouuu what?" I screamed and the people by the field turned to look at me. I gave them a small wave as I gritted my teeth. "No. No. Absolutely not!"

"And why?" they all asked.

"He's a pedophile," I replied instantly.

There was a scuffle on the other side before Hidan's voice answered me. "You know I only have the hots for yo—," he hadn't finished his sentence when there were a loud smack and a groan.

"First of all, Hidan, eww," I stated. "And secondly, thanks for that Itachi. But no—don't send Hidan, a possible, no argument, a pedophile in a high school with a dorm. It, definitely, maybe, won't end well,"

"That's—passive-aggressive of you," Pein replied. "But you're right,"

"Whaaattt?" Hidan interrupted. "I'm very offended with everyone,"

I rolled my eyes despite them not being about to see me.

"My name is Sasori. I'll be the new school doctor starting today,"

Sasori was up on the stage to introduce himself in the morning assembly. One of the students raised his hand and asked him what his last name was.

"What do you care?" he answered nonchalantly. "Do you need to know my full name for me to treat whatever wounds you end up with while playing?"

I sighed. Sasori definitely was not a people person. Why did we even agree with sending him in?

Kiba and Naruto poked me on the side and I turned to glare at them. "What's with the trend of not giving out last names?"

"It's mysterious," I replied with a smirk. "But—how're things with you and Hinata, Naruto?"

The fox-like boy gave me a huge grin before he started telling me everything but I tuned him out. There's no way I'm listening to any passionate confessions all over again and again and again which Naruto kept repeating for all the remainder of the morning assembly.

As soon as I got the chance, I went towards the school clinic where Sasori was amusing himself with the stains on the ceiling.

"The first day and bored already?" I asked as I closed the door behind me.

Sasori turned and gave me a smile before he stood up to spread his arms to his side. With a smile, I ran towards him and jumped in his arms.

"Damn," I cursed. "I can't believe high school is making me so emotional,"

He chuckled as he gave me a pat on the back before pulling away. "Well, that's what adolescent is,"

"Where did you learn that?" I asked in all seriousness.

He looked at me deadpanned. "Just how old do you really see me, you punk?" he drilled into my temples and I laughed so hard.

Damn. I'm seriously getting soft.

"So, we go with the plan?" I inquired as I jumped into one of the beds.

Sasori sat down on his chair and nodded. "I'll keep watch with the Neji Hyuga when you're with the other one and vice versa,"

I gave him a thumb up and grinned. "This will be a cinch,"

And suddenly, there was screaming from the field. We both turned towards the window where there was smoke rising up to the sky. Sasori turned to me with wide-eye.

"You do know how to jinx things, Tenten," Sasori stated.

I rolled my eyes at him. "Oh, I hate you,"
