CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
"Itachi?" a familiar voice repeated and I sucked in my breath.
With my heart pounding at my idioticy, I turned around and saw a shocked Kiba behind me. I let out a relieved sighed when I realized it wasn't little Uchiha. But then quickly remembered they were friends. I gave him a hard look.
"What are you doing here in the girls' wings?" I asked.
Kiba raised his hands. "Hey, I was hoping I could talk to you when I saw you here. I didn't mean to eardrop but damn, you know Itachi?"
I sighed as I feel a migraine coming. "Can you keep it a secret from little Uchiha?"
Kiba's eyes widened as his jaw slackened. I froze, if he was to spread it around—surely people would start asking me questions. But instead of running away to convey the news, Kiba suddenly doubled-over laughing. I stared at him in confusion as his voice echoed in the hallway.
"You call him little Uchiha?" he asked with a laugh. "This is the best! Oh my god, I can't stop laughing! Can you imagine Sasuke's face when he finds out what you've been calling him behind his back?!"
"Yes, yes, it's funny," I answered deadpan. "Can you stop laughing so loud? I don't really want a large audience,"
Kiba raised a finger to tell me to give him a minute. He slowly sobered up and once he stopped laughing, he straightened up and smiled at me. "So, you know, Ten,"
"No, I don't," I interrupted.
Kiba gave me a 'no duh' look before he continued. "So, I was actually looking for you because I saw something last night. I wasn't expecting to find out something more," he wiggled a brow at me.
"Eww," I replied. "Stop that,"
He laughed once more before taking his phone of out his pockets and showing me a picture. It was a picture of me and Hyuga. When. We. Were. Freaking. Kissing! With a gasp, I quickly went for his phone. But contrary to his easy-going attitude, the kid had nice reflexes. He jumped out of my way and teasingly shook his phone.
"Delete that," I warned with a growl.
But Kiba merely shrugged. "Or I can just tell Sasuke you know his brother,"
"Are you threatening me?" I asked, dumbfounded. A kid was actually threatening me.
Suddenly, Kiba's expression turned serious. "No. But I won't stay quiet if it concerns my friends,"
I crossed my arms on my chest and stared at him. I raised a brow in question. "So, what are you insinuating?"
"Itachi has been missing for like plenty of years. Sasuke is worried sick. And here you are, talking to him on the phone. Don't tell me you just happened to enroll here as well?"
I scoffed at that. "Missing?" I repeated with a laugh. "Oh man, you crack me up. Itachi is definitely not missing,"
"Yeah, right," Kiba answered sarcastically. "That's why Sasuke is so grumpy. Itachi hadn't been home for many years,"
"Look, here," I started looking around to make sure no one else was in the surrounding. Then I looked at him straight in the eye. "I'm sure you know how the Uchihas are. Itachi isn't missing. He got thrown out of the family when little Uchiha was well—little. Now me being here isn't a coincidence. Itachi is the one who chose this school for me so that I could tell him if his little brother was living a good life,"
I could tell from his expressions that Kiba had no trouble believing that Itachi was thrown out giving how cold and strict the Uchiha family was. I asked him not to tell anyone about my connection to Itachi. And he agreed in one condition.
"How did you know Itachi?" he asked.
I rolled my eyes. "For a man, you're so set on getting the juicy bits. Itachi is a friend of Pein,"
Kiba couldn't mask his shock at the information. I shrugged at him and told him we were done. He nodded and actually promised me that he'll keep about Itachi a secret but won't do the same with the Hyuga one.
My eyes widened when I turned around but Kiba was already running away while laughing maniacally.
