CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR
As soon as class was finished, I marched back into my dorm room. My freaking bad mood eminatted from me all day long even Hyuga couldn't find the courage to tell me to go to club training.
If I were in a movie, 'd be walking around with a black aura around me. My eyes were set into a scowl and my lips into a firm line, even Hinata's reaction around her boyfriend couldn't get me to laugh.
I was so pissed off. Hiashi died in my arms. I freaking mourned his death. And now I find out the fucking man is alive? What the hell is up with his drama 'protect my child' when he's still so freaking breathing?
I kicked the door open and shut it close with the same energy. The door slammed shut with a loud bang. I threw my bag over to my table and I plopped down on my bed. If Hiashi was still alive, to hell with my promise to him then.
There's no point in continuing to protect Hinata. 'Sides, it wasn't like we signed a contract. If anything, I didn't even had to honor my promise to a dying man. But hell, Itachi raised me. So, with my so-called conscience, I still enrolled to his daughter's school.
Kicking my shoes off, I pulled my feet up my bed. I looked up at the wall clock. It was still early. Sakura and Hinata won't be coming back soon. With that thought in mind, I spun on my bed to look under it. I pulled my bag out and rammaged inside it.
I found what I was looking for at the hidden pocket at the very bottom; my dagger pouch. I sat up on the bed and opened it up. It rolled open, revealing the different daggers I liked using. I picked one up before lying back down to stare at the ceiling.
I played with the dagger on my hand--running a finger through its blade. If Hiashi is alive and well, and with him appearing in public like nothing that could only mean one thing: there's no more threat. So, what the hell am I still doing at this highschool? There's no more point in going through hell. I can finally leave. Go on missions once more. And be with my family.
I spun the dagger around my fingers. I would get what I want. Yet--why is there a heavy feeling in my chest? I could finally use my babies again; fire a gun, throw a hammer, and even slash someone with a dagger. Heck if things go my way I could even drive a car!
So, why was I hesitating?
I sat up, stared at my reflection at the glinting blade of my dagger.
There must be something I'm missing.
Something I misunderstood. After all, I checked Hiashi's pulse myself. He freaking stopped breathing in my arms. So, I couldn't shake off the nagging feelings I had.
I put my dagger back into the pouch and hid it back once more into my bag. Then, I slumped down on the bed to stare at the still white ceiling. I shove a hand between my breast to reveal Hiashi's ring which I made into a pendant.
"What the hell, man?" I asked the ring.
With all my thoughts whirring and jumbled up together, I slowly found myself falling asleep.
I opened my eyes to see a pair of purplish orbs looking at me. I blinked twice as Hinata's confused expression came into focus. I sat up and she sat down on the edge of my bed.
"Why do you have that ring?" She asked, staring directly at the ring dangling between my chest.
"Oh," wad my only reply.
"Did Neji gave it to you?" She asked once more, her eyes reflecting sorrow.
But I was only confused. "No. Why would he?"
"Really?" She looked shocked. "But that's a Hyuga ring. More specifically, that's uncle Hizashi's ring,"
The unfamiliar name rang in my ear. And everything came flooding back. All he needed was to stay hidden yet 'Hiashi' even tried to run away from me. His adamant repeatation that everything wasn't as simple what it looked like. And the way he made me promise to protect his child.
Child.
Child, dammit Tenten. Not children.
Neji Hyuga is a frigging only child.
All those accidents that have been happening at school revolved around Neji not Hinata. The only time she was ever in danger was during that invisible gun man pointing a sniper's laser at her but whoever it was hadn't even tried shooting her.
Tenten, you big doofus!
The reason why Hiashi Hyuga is still alive because he hadn't died in the first place. Hizashi Hyuga did!
Fuck.
