CHAPTER FIFTEEN
I showed up for my first day of training with the club. Aside from Hyuga and little Uchiha, it seemed like Naruto, Kiba, Temari, and surprisingly, even Shikamaru were members. And what's more surprising was that I actually enjoyed during club activities. After the warm-up, I've sparred with Temari and won. Like hell, I'll allow myself to lose a match against kids.
Well, we were at the same age but—nevermind.
"Sorry, Ten," Temari said as she closed her locker door after she finished changing. "I'll be going first. Shika and I have dinner tonight,"
I nodded at her and gave her a grin. "Go enjoy your date,"
She laughed at me as she waved goodbye. Whistling to myself, I took my time inside the locker. I did my nightly stretches. It was a rare occasion that I could be alone since I was sharing a room with Hinata and Sakura. So, doing a bit more than the normal exercises were bad since Sakura asks a lot of questions.
Satisfied doing more than jumping jack for the first time in a while, I exited the locker room. And the door beside me opened in the same time. I glanced over and saw the Hyuga exiting the male locker room. I scrunched my face at him as he walked towards me.
"Will there come a time we actually talk normally?" he asked as he walked in pace with me.
I pretended to think about it and gave him a grin. "Well, if you admit I'm better I might think about it,"
He gave me a scoff. "In your dreams,"
We walked side by side in the empty hallways. Since it was dinner time, most students were at the cafeteria or eating outside. I turned to look at the person walking silently beside me and cocked my head to the side. He gazed at me in question.
"Can I ask you something?"
"You already did," he quickly retorted.
"Smartass," I rolled my eyes at him. "Anyway, are you sure you and Hinata are really cousin?"
He stopped on his track to look at me with a confused look. "Isn't it obvious? We both have the traits of a Hyuga,"
"I wasn't talking about your appearance," I deadpanned.
I could see his anger boiling and as he made a move towards me, I let out a loud laugh before I started running away from him. I could hear him telling me to stop as he chased after me. I looked over my shoulder and saw a very angry Hyuga. I scrunched up my face at him once more before sticking my tongue out.
He growled as he pushed himself faster and finally caught up with me. He stretched his arm toward me and I gave a dash. But he caught ahold of the collar of my shirt and pulled me back towards him. Caught unprepared, I choked at the action and stumbled back.
I spun on the heels of my feet as I freefall towards the Hyuga. Wide-eyed, he spread his arms and caught me. I crashed into Hyuga. And reluctantly realized how sturdy he was when my hands landed on his chest.
He stumbled back to accommodate my sudden weight and his arms wrapped around my waist in an attempt to balance the two of us. Thankfully, we hadn't fallen to the floor. But as I looked up to thank him, I quickly realized the position we were in.
Despite that, I never felt the need to quickly untangle myself away from him. And seemed like the Hyuga had the same thoughts as his arms, instead of letting go, wrapped themselves tighter around me. I stared at his eyes. In spite of him acting as cold as ice, his mesmerizing orbs were actually electrifying. As he stared at me with those pale eyes I felt heat rushed my veins as a shiver ran down my spine.
And suddenly, my lips felt dried. Without losing eye contact, I ran my tongue through my lower lips in an attempt to moisten them as I panted in an unfamiliar want that suddenly consumed my entire being. As if reading my mind, Hyuga slowly lowered his head towards mine.
Spellbound, I closed my eyes as his lips touched mine.
I quickly pushed him away before the kiss could deepen as I returned to my senses when I heard voices from the corner of the hallway. Hyuga stumbled back and stared at me in surprise. The two of us stared at one another before Hyuga awkwardly cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I—uh, I'll see you tomorrow," he awkwardly said, avoiding eye contact.
Without waiting for an answer, he rushed away from me. I stared at his retreating figure and felt a pang in my chest. Bewildered, I put a hand on top of my chest and gripped at my shirt. My lips, which barely touched his, felt so hot as if he left a trail of lava.
I sighed as I shook my head and started to walk. "I think I'm sick,"
