CHAPTER EIGHT

Chapter Eight

"PUNTA ka bes ha!" Ivy keep on bugging me about her birthday party.

"I can't promise Ivy, pero ipagpapaalam ko muna kay auntie yan." I remarked.

She gave me a half smile before taking a look at me from head to foot. I got conscious at what she did. I rolled my eyes, sanay na syang pinaiikotan ko ng mata kaya alam kung di sya magagalit sakin.

"Hmm? Dapat mas maganda ka pa dito sa birthday ko ha?!" She laughed.

I started to make face on her front. We're about to go to our building when she forgotten her bag putted on her locker. Nasa locker area kami ngayon at dito nya pa talaga napiling imbitahan ako sa nalalapit na birthday nya next week, nice.

"What do you mean? Hindi ako kaaya-aya tingnan ngayon?"

She laughed again. "Hihi, It's not what I meant." Mabilis nyang hinila ang braso ko at doon isinandal ang pisngi nya na parang pusang naglalambing. "Punta ka please, I will be sad if you're not there."

I sighed onerously, unsure of what to say so I massage her hair. "I'll try to convince my auntie."

Nakita kong sumilay ang ngiti sa labi nya nang bitawan ang braso ko, pagkatapos ay hinila nya ako papunta na sa building namin.

Tomorrow is weekend and it's her birthday on upcoming Wednesday next week. I stared at her, contemplated. She's turning 18, it's her debut and I badly want to come. For a short span of time, we became close. And I admit it that I love her. Hindi sya katulad ng ibang mayayaman na mata pobre, ibang-iba sya. Kahit sobrang ingay nya at napakakulit pero sobrang napakasweet at caring naman. Iba sya, she's a perfect package for what they called bestfriend.

"Goodbye Amy! Tawagan mo ako bukas kapag nakapagpaalam ka na sa auntie mo ha!" She mumbled and all I could to is to nod. She waved her hand before gliding inside their car.

As tomorrow came, sinamahan ko si auntie sa pagluluto ng meryenda para sa mga kaibigan nina kuya na bumisita sa bahay nila auntie.

They're on their basketball court and having a good game.

Tumikhim ako para maagaw ang atensyon ni auntie na mukhang tagumpay ako dahil lumingon sya sa gawi ko.

"Oh Amy? Do you have a problem?"

I shook my head and smiled. "Wala po auntie, may sasabihin lang sana ako."

Inilalagay na ni auntie ngayon ang mga cookies na nabake nya habang ako naman ay nagbiblind ng manggo shake.

"May boyfriend ka na noh? Yun bang si poging Zac?" She utter with a quizzical smile crepted on her face.

Sandali akong natigil sa biro ni auntie bago umiling nang umiling. "Hindi po auntie! Hindi ko po yun boyfriend!"

Tumawa sya at tinapik ang braso ko. "I like him for you." She winked.

Diyos ko po.

"Iba po sana ang sasabihin ko auntie."

She stopped mid step before she look at me with a surprised face, she immediately covered her mouth. "O-oh my god! Don't tell me b-buntis ka? Naku Amy, patay tayo kay kuya Benedict nyan!"

Napahagalpak ako ng tawa sa reaksyon ni auntie, ni hindi pa nga nya alam ang sasabihin ko.

Isa pa, diyos ko po..

"Sinong buntis ma?" Narinig kong tanong ni Elisse na papunta na pala sa gawi namin.

"Hindi po auntie, kayo naman eh! Wala pa nga akong sinasabi."

She stopped covering her mouth and sighed heavily. "Anong sasabihin mo?"

"Naku Amy, ganyan talaga yang si mama. Masyadong advance mag-isip."

"Uhm. Birthday po kasi ng kaibigan ko sa miyerkules at inimbitahan nya po ako. Pwede po ba akong pumunta?"

"Sino ba yang kaibigan mo? Babae o lalaki?" Si Auntie.

"Babae po, si Ivy."

"Sige pero ipapasama ko si Elisse sayo ha?"

I smiled with contentment. "Sige po! Salamat auntie!"

"Party na naman! Yes!" Pahapyaw naman ni Elisse.

"Hi Amethyst" Jorico greeted me as I serve their merienda. Shyness filled my body, I am not sure but I think this is our first encounter, I don't know where did he get my name, maybe on my cousins.

"Naku! May boyfriend na yan Jorico, sa iba ka nalang!"

"Ay ganun ba, sayang naman." Jorico stated.

"You look so adorable, Amethyst." Another friend of kuya Brian murmured.

"Ikaw rin Dave?" Natatawang sabi ni Kuya Brian.

"Why not? Your cousin is very beautiful, Brian."

My face heated at their conversation so I decided to excuse myself. I came to my room and there I noticed, that I've been holding my breath.

Breath in, Amethyst.

Time flew faster and it's already Wednesday, after our class mabilis akong umuwi at naghanda, same with Elisse. Ate Melissa help me out, she putted light make up on my face that fit perfectly with my dark red backless fitted bodycon dress na lagpas tuhod ang haba, pinahiram ni Elisse sa akin. Ate Melissa tied my hair up in a bun as she said that to highlighted my back. I am not so comfortable but I don't have any choice, ito na ang ipinahiram sa akin ni Elisse, alangan naman mag demand pa ako.

"Happy birthday Iseeh Juvy Smith, my cute bestfriend" I smiled wider. "Alam mo naman siguro na hindi ako mayaman, sorry wala akong regalo"

She suddenly pinch my cheeks. "Andito ka lang, iyan na ang pinakamahalagang regalo na matatanggap ko mula sayo."

I introduced my cousin, Elisse to her.

"You are so beautiful tonight, Amethyst Yumy Martin." maya maya'y sabi ni Ivy.

Natawa ako sa sinabi nya, bata pa lang ako sanay na ako na laging pinupuri ng ganito. My thick curved black eyebrows, my argentine eyes reciprocated from my mother's eyes, my sharp pointed nose heir from both of my parents, my mid-thin pink lips, the line between my lower lip are highlighted. Noon pa lang marami na akong narinig sa mga papuring ito, at noon pa lang rin hindi ko ugaling ipagmalaki ito, pero hindi ko rin ikinakahiya dahil alam kung kahit papaano, I have my own term of the word beautiful.

The party has started, Big chandeliers behold. Big numbers of people, maraming mga negosyante at halos lahat ay mayayaman.

After her father's long speech is the loud cheering of the crowd as the debutant centered. Her eighteenth roses and dances currently shown now at the center of this grand hotel. And to my shock, her last dance is Kevin. I smiled widely, my bestfriend  seems very happy at the moment. She's so gorgeous with her elegant gown.

"Ang ganda ng bestfriend mo noh?" Si Elisse.

I smiled and nodded "Definitely."

"At syaka look girl! Halatang mga mayayaman lahat ng narito! It's only means that they are so rich! Grabe sana all!"

I am not supposedly here, pero dahil mahal ko ang kaibigan ko andito ako. Ngayon ko napagtanto kung gaano kalayo ang agwat naming dalawa, mayaman sya samantalang mahirap lang ako. 19 na ako at hindi ko ito naranasan noong nag debut ako, naghanda lang at nagsaya ng kaunti pero di ganito. No gown, no eighteen roses and dances.
